So, haven't posted a build on R2R yet and I will be posting my progress so far on our 120g. Hope you all enjoy! I would love to hear any constructive criticism as we go along :).

So a couple of months back, we broke down our old dilapidated 180g. We have decided to downsize due to time constraints and aesthetics. So we bought a 120 gallon RR, and are working on plumbing it through the wall into the sump room that we had built into the new house. I will get pictures up in a little while but so far we have the tank and stand in place, water filling, and have the plumbing run through the wall. Haven't gotten water circulating quite yet, but hopefully before I go to bed tonight it will be running.

It has begun! Good ol Felix helping out! Thank you sir

Well we have had one more set back on this project. The new settling tank we added Saturday night blew out early Sunday morning. 50 gallons of water all over the downstairs of our new house! I will get the pictures of the disaster zone up later this evening.

So, replacement water change tank was picked up! Let the plumbing begin!

Tank in its new home, you can see the cross supports installed for added strength and thicker acrylic.

I could get this foam pad installed if the Texans weren't so distracting! Go Texans!

FINALLY got corals in the tank, now letting the tank go follow for 7weeks in hopes of no more sick fish in the future along with quarantine procedures for all fish and corals.

Awesome shelf rock courtesy of 3CC! Thanks Brian!
20121119_070234.jpg

Very bleached Echinata from the store, can't wait to see how this colors up under the LEDs
20121119_070240.jpg

One very happy clam!
20121119_070249.jpg

Our black and white clam still getting used to his spot and the plate coral, lots of room on this rock for expansion :)
20121119_070254.jpg

And we got the tank skinned! and for whomever said it could not be skinned with magnets on 3/4" plywood..proof is in this stand, works great! no hinges, all doors held in place by countersunk magnets :)

This is how I did the pocket magnets. The way i did it was first traced a circle around the magnets i was using as a guide and used a drill bit to drill 4 starter holes just as deep as the drill bit began to bite. Then i used a round stone bit on a dremel to open up the hole to the circle guide I traced earlier at a depth just deeper than the bit, making sure the magnet fits in the hole. Then i put a bit of epoxy in the hole, dropped the magnet in and then covered it with epoxy making a little mound over the magnet. Let it dry then sanded smooth.

DSC_0250.jpg

May I request closer pictures of that magnet setup within the stand. I'm actually looking to do that very sabe thing.

As for the lights, not sure if anyone will recognize them yet, but it is the Sunbrite F-series LED lights that were recently reviewed on reefbuilders. This light is simply amazing. It has a great price point with excellant color control with 7 seperate color channels. It is not currently apex controllable and I am not sure if they plan to incorporate that, but I find the built in controller to be great on apple ios devices. They currently do not have a web interface which I hope they do provide in the future, but it was the only complete fixture I could find with this level on control and color availability. The next closest thing was the radions but would have to buy multiples and it would not look as good over the tank. And this thing is BRIGHT!! I am currently running it at 40% white, @ 100% white it hurts to look at the tank, and the corals are loving it. 2nd day in the tank and they have full polyp extension. All of our corals were being held by a friend under halides and many of them got burnt and they are already showing signs of recovery! The wife and I could not be happier.

It was caused due to the tank being 30" tall with 1/8" acrylic, the front bowed pretty bad and they had a bad bottle of sealant. Combination of things really and the seam blew out and shattered the front pane. It was rebuilt with 3/8" acrylic with cross supports to prevent bowing causing additional strain on the seams.

Thank you Marvin, LUCKILY, it was a brand new home with nice new caulk around the baseboards and mostly tile. The bedroom carpet got about 5foot section wet but we were able to get that steam cleaned almost immediately so no real damage. The drain in the sump room floor helped out quite a bit as well along with having a wet/dry shopvac on hand. Was a nice wakeup BOOM at 5am lol.

Another week, another update :). Got the power center up and running and spent all night figuring out the programming for our new APEX :) and found a nice wireless game adapter to make it nice and easy to setup on the network.

20121127_0703380.jpg

Also got the media reactor hooked up for some phosban and carbon. Left room for a 2nd container later on to run carbon separately.

20121127_070403.jpg

And we couldn't help ourselves, had to get this new little girl, too adorable to pass up!
