Hey gang,

I wanted to garner some insight from others about my new tank cycle. I have a 90 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump and I'm using half live rock and have Marcos dry rock with a 3-4 inch sand bed using Tropic Eden reef flakes.
I dosed some Dr Tim's two weeks ago but I didn't account for the extra sump water and after dosing some ammonia I noticed that the levels did not go down very quickly. Last week I dosed again with Dr Tims and some Bio Spira. (long story...didn't think I would get the Dr Tims in time before I had to leave)
At this time my NH3 is has been holding at .025 and in fact has risen to .026-7 just today. I'm content to wait and I'm not rushing to add livestock but it seems like my cycle has stalled for some reason or maybe it hasn't. From what I've been reading, the Dr Tims was supposed to jump start the cycle and be ready within days to a week. Again..not in a rush but I'm wondering if there's some reason the NH3 is still high.
Using a Seneye to monitor and the NH4 has been fluctuating up and down and is presently at 4.46 ppb.

My guess is that you are experiencing a little die off on your live rock. This is something that is common if the live rock wasn’t cured before you started your cycle. What are your nitrites?

I've been working remotely and haven't had a chance to check yet. I'll be testing this weekend. Monitoring the Seneye remotely.
