I was thinking about getting one as a BTA tank. The 7” height sounds really cool and interesting, but how do you like it in practice? Does it feel a little too shallow?

The two maxi mini thrive under the Popbloom so I am overly confident a middle of the road BTA will as well.
All the tanks get a WC once a week.
With regard to flow, a BTA should be fine. Heck a Seabae might do well in a back reef environment.

You should go for it, tide pools are shallow. 🦀

Honestly I have never used a frag rack before. Man I really like them now, corals like them. Good bye egg crate.

I have multiple red and green corals in the 25. Going for bluer tones. Merry Christmas to me. ❄️❄️❄️❄️

Well I went about 4 months with the BB look and it just did not work so I added crushed coral which I am very happy with.

I then used some older cured LR that I had in other systems.

Dosing nitrates and phosphates has been the most significant change. I didn't think that the N/P values could be non detectable, but they were. Coral growth and coloration have improved. Even with 4 fish that are heavily feed the values for nitrates and phosphates were far too low. Using RedSea Reef Energy as well.

Added another rock structure that I had cooking in another nano. I have one more structure with Zoanthid and Duncan cooking. I will be doing away with the frag rack soon.
I can not believe I am saying this but, I have too many corals milling about.

I decided to swap out the Bubble Magus for the IOAOI. The IOAOI thus far has dialed in really quickly. The Bubble Magus air intake needed to be cleaned weekly.
Continue to dose AFR, NeoNitro, Plus N/P. I started the Ammonium Bicarbonate again to manage the nitrate deficiency.

The corals are growing, but very slowly. I am feeding pretty heavily for a 25 gallon tank. Using Red Sea Reef Energy every other day.

Had a somewhat newer Zoanthid frag just melt, quickly over 4 days. I have never had that happened before. All other Zoanthid are doing great.

I really really want to get rid of the frag rack.
Waiting on two Acropora.

I have gotten the last corals I am going to get for awhile. Got two nice healthy frags from @BoomCorals . One Bill Murray Acropora and a PC Rainbow.

Still dosing Ammonium Bicarbonate, NeoNitro, Plus N and P, and AFR. Goal is to transition over to kalk in ATO and Ammonium Bicarbonate solely.

Because of some life changes I took down the Pico, for now. I am also taking down the IM 14. I rely on my spouse to do some basic tank husbandry so to elevate some choirs I made the decision to consolidate corals and fish into the IM 25 and a NEW IM 20 long.

I hope all is well, glad your staying in with the two tanks. The pico was a cool little tank.
Thank you. :-)

The Pico was amazing.

The consolidation is a money management decision. I have enough corals to frag and populate the two Nanos.
Getting older and being responsible I guess. (It sucks).....
