Hi everyone, can anybody solve this ?
When feeding the fish in my reef tank this morning I found something on the side of the glass that I don't recognise, it has uniformed pattern and has obviously been deposited by something, but what ? See picture

Yes there are fish, but so far shown no interest, the reason I asked if anybody knows is if it is worth protecting them

Assuming I'm right, they're probably trochus, cerith, or nassarius eggs. I began noticing them after adding snails for the first time. My money is on Cerith. Would be interesting to hear if they're still there in a week. Mine never last more than a few days, and I seriously doubt any of them get around to hatching

I have all of those, cerith being the newest. I have a net I can put over them. Maybe worth a try.

Yup. Snail eggs. IMHO not worth the trouble of trying to save. Depending on the species, some may make it. Most will not - they'll be fresh seafood for the other creatures in the tank. But never fear - there will be an endless supply in the foreseeable future. It's what snails do (for fun?)
