Hi all, my wife picked up some sponge and it was floating in the bag for a while until i came home and placed it for her(her tank is 2' deep.) Anyways, noticing some white secretion from it and curious if this is normal or if we should be worried? Thanks for the input!

Generally not a good sign. Keep an eye on it sponges generally do not do well as they can not be exposed to air and this generally happens some time during its trip from sea to your aquarium. The encrusting sponges do fine that come on live rock but these larger ones. Generally decline and you see algae start to grow on them.
