I believe Pocilloporidae but I could be wrong… I’m not the best with species.

I gotta agree with @Troylee, think pocillopora is my first guess! That said it could also be a stylo!

Wouldn't be Stylophora madagascarensis, as that only occurs in the Western Indian Ocean, whereas all the stony corals in the hobby are collected/farmed in the Pacific. The Stylophora in the Andaman-West Pacific are an undescribed species.

This is a coral in a research lab, not a hobby tank. Im unsure where he got it from.

Judging by the color morph, he probably just got this from an LFS and put it in a lab, so it would be safe to assume this is from the west Pacific. S. madascarensis is brown with larger corallites and visible hoods.

EDIT: maybe Stylophora pistillata

S. pistillata is a Red Sea endemic, so it wouldn't be that.

This is true. Can you describe to me what "hoods" are? I kept seeing that term in my ID book but I dont really know what that means. So you are also thinking S. pistillata?

Hoods are these little protrusions that come off the side of each corallite in Stylophora, similar to the coenosteal spines on Stylocoeniella. For some reason, aquarium specimens of Stylophora don't have visible hoods.
