Any ideas what is going on? The only thing that changes was new lights. I added a pair of Kessil 360x 2 weeks ago. Just came off of acclimation mode that I ran for a week. It was high on the rocks towards the middle. Everything else is the same. I didn't notice this until last week after the lights had been installed for 4 or 5 days.

Could this be too much light?

I posted in SPS section but haven't gotten much responses.

Alk 9.2 (was 7.9 when it started)
Salinity 1.025
Nitrates 15ish
Phosphates ?
Calcium 420
Temp 75

I just dipped in Seachem reef dip for 15 and moved to the frag rack. As seen in the pic

If it is possible to get pictures under more white light that would help.

A couple immediate observations is we need to know phosphate levels and that alk swing was fairly large for an already stressed coral.

Also how new is the tank and rock? Do you have a lot of coraline growth?

Most of the rock(life rock) is the same age. Several large pieces were already established old rock.

I have a Phosphate tester coming my way.

I do have Coraline growing.

The alk swing is really puzzling to me. I only dosed half of what the calculator suggested I should dose. It should have only increased half at the most according to the calc.

I will snap a pic when whites come on in a few hours.

The problem seems to have slowed. It doesn't look any worse today.

Oversized pump and 250 gyre. Mega flow. That's just my frag rack I placed him after this started.

My bird'snest made a full recovery after being eaten by an emerald crap and another acro is doing fantastic.

I have Bi-Color Blenny that likes to bite **** when he doesn't have Nori but I didn't see him biting this frag and it's in spot he would have had a rough time getting to so I don't think it was that.

This is an indication that the water volume may not be as large as you think it is.

I have had coral tissue loss when alk and nutrients swing. Specifically falling phosphate combined with raising Alk.

I only dosed half. I also under estimated my water volume. So I'm still puzzled.

120 gallon tank
23 gallons average in my sump.

I figured around 100 gallon.

All swing and a new tank. Why do you think you need to dose? Are water changes not keeping up with the alk demand? New lights don't help. To many changes to quick.

That looks suspiciously like damage from pest activity too me. #Reefsquad
Pest as in fish bites or something else?

My Blenny gets ignorant and starts biting **** around his hole when he doesn't have Nori on a rock by his hole(yes, I spoiled him like that SMH). I once saw him bite GSP while showing off to the other fish [emoji849] I recently taught him to eat it from a magnet on the glass. He Mostly goes for green colored corals sps. He has nipped a few montis before. But NOTHING like this. Usually just one nip that heals pretty fast and I'd been watching him when I first noticed this Coral started showing signs and didn't see him travel that far and a few other SPS closer to him have no damage. Actually a bird best JUST healed this week after an emerald crap scraped half of it. He lives in the sump now.
