Just started cycling my tank about 5 weeks ago and I am starting to notice some starfish that hiked over with the rock. Can anyone tell me about them? Are they good, bad, cool etc...

Asterina Stars. Opinions very greatly on these lil guys. It's been my personal experience that the solid white ones are purely algae grazers. While some sporting colors (such as yours) are known to munch on Zoas.
However I too have some with color and have yet to see them anywhere but grazing on my rock.

If you have a sump I would move them there, if not than I would remove them.

I do have a sump. Should I move them there or remove them all together? This is only a 12 gallon display, so population takeover would not be ideal.

I have one in my tank. It's white with some grey and some orange. It ate a ton of my coralline algae before I moved it. Personally I think they're super cool and don't mind them snacking a little.
