inspirational reading. I love tats, on other people, but if I was inclined I think I have found the one I would get...
R.A.O.K. as a daily reminder
at closer to 61 than 60 I still try and do the things my parents taught me..... holding the door for someone, loading someone's groceries in to their vehicle, little things. sadly they are always surprised.
a few years back, I made friends with some gamers overseas, yea I still game.
one of them ended up becoming a single mom. she herself had lost her parents to cancer and diabetes while she was still in her teens. her cousins had homes next to hers and helped as they could. she shared pics so I knew what the situation was, the poverty they lived in. (I know......poverty aside, they all had $ for a phone)
I started sending $$ over to her.
One time she msg'd me her cousins new born was ill and they had no money for the clinic and you have to prepay before they will see you. so I ask how much?, ok.... it will be at Western U in an hour. after the clinic she, as well as the cousins msg'd me thankyou's with pics of the kid at the clinic. awhile after that I get another msg. he needs a med script. I ask how much? she sez, no, not asking, just making conversation trying to think what we can sell to get the $$. again I ask, how much? $20. I'm laughing. $20? I tell her I pee away $20 on a lunch with friends. she doesn't believe this.
I tell her $20 will be there in an hour. you think I want the kid to have to go back to the clinic? I'm now godfather to 2 kids, hers and the cousins, over seas I'll probably never meet.
I shared this story back then with my co-workers. they all said she's taking you. my reply was maybe, and that's on her. me, I'm just gathering karma.
I look around me, at all we have. and I've worked hard for it, but by the grace of God, who I admit I sometimes have an on again-off again-on again relationship with (all on my side. I know he doesn't give up on me) if I hadn't been born here?
