I’m thinking of upgrading my sumpless 75 gallons to a 48 x 24 x 21 high with sump (105 gallons).

I want a medium/low bioload with peaceful fish. Except the kole tang, who’s a jerk.

Here is my actual list :
1 x banggai cardinal
1 x firefish goby
1 x blue eye kole tang
1 x Pajama Cardinal
2 x oscellaris
1 x Yellow watchman goby
1 x one spot foxface
1 x yellow coris wrasse
Total = 9 fish

I’d like a longhorn boxfish and maybe a copperband butterfly if I find out how to keep them alive.

How many medium fish do you think I can add to my actual stocking list to stay within my medium bioload criteria ?

I have a 125G tank too, but mine is a 6 feet long, 18 inch wide. I have mainly peaceful fish too and I keep a total of 14 fish. My guess is you can add about 5 medium size fish to your 9 fish, if you want to keep a light bio load, and keep the aggression down.

Would you share your stocking list, to give me ideas ?

CBB- find one that is eating and no skin damage. As for boxfish - I recommend to avoid this fish as they often eat then shut down and starve. While some are raised successfully, many are not so lucky.

What do you feed it ? Does it have to eat through a special cup with holes ?
He eats along with all the other fish. He would eat dog biscuits if I dropped them in the tank lol
His first and favorite foods are
LRS herbivore diet
Small plankton
Brine shrimp
Mysis shrimp
Chopped scallops
Clam

Ok, thanks. I think I’m going to try one if I get the new tank. I hope I am as successful as you are.

3 tangs, 1 foxface, 1 blue jaw trigger, 2 wrasses, 2 clowns and a file fish. No problem in my 120.

How long have you had them all?

OP, that is pretty much my list right now too. I have a 48x24x20 and so far have a female mandarin, watchman, clown pair, two firefish, a fox face, springeri damsel and tailspot blenny. I am planning on some type of halichores wrasse, a flasher or fairy wrasse and a tomini tang last.

My 120:

2x Spotcinctus Clowns
1x Harptail Blenny
1x Tomini Tang
5x Green Chromis

I'll be transferring in a zebra barred dart fish once I've got a lid on the tank

Considering adding a goby of some sort, and possibly a wrasse.

That said, I feel the tank at this moment is just the right level of "busy". There's always movement everywhere in the tank.

i cant think

I have a tank similar in dimensions but I believe mine may be 18” tall instead of the 20” tall (I tend to round my dimensions up to make it even).
I have a total of 17-18 fish in my tank now;
2x Radiant Wrasses
1x Jade Wrasse
1x Carpenter’s Flasher Wrasse
1x Roseyveiled Fairy Wrasse
1x Yellowfin Fairy Wrasse
1x Cleaner Wrasse
1x Gold Nugget Wrasse
1x Magnificent Foxface
1x Blue Eye Kole Tang
1x Yellow Watchman Goby
1x Coral Beauty Angelfish
1x Majestic Angelfish (Juvenile)
1x Regal Angelfish
1x Copperband Butterflyfish
1x Occ x Perc Clownfish
1x Marcosi Tilefish

Obviously, my tank is high in bio-load but IMO, once you’ve got the high bio-load you’ll want to keep it high to keep the majority of the bacteria alive.

As you want a peaceful tank, I do not recommend several Tangs.
I have a somewhat similar list as what you have.
Instead of a Kole Tang I have a hippo Tang
Then 2 ocellaris (except my 10 years old one died this week)
7 green chromis. They are very active and spawn regularly. Male will chase whoever goes close to its eggs, but it is never very serious.
1 Eblii angel, you could put a dwarf angel in your tank
1 rabbit fox
1 fourstripe damsel, it came with the tank, must be around 14 or years old. Was very aggressive, but no longer.
1 sixline wrasse. Never had problem with it.
You could had damsel, a dwarf angel, blennies, wrasse etc.
I never dared to get a CBB, I read too many sad stories about them. But they are other beautiful butterfly fish you could look into and they are easier than the CBB.
Due to your Kole, I would recommend adding 2 or 3 fish together to spread his aggression. Or separate him, when you add your fish and put him back later.

I am not familiar with trigger fish, so I cannot answer, I do not think they are considered peaceful though.

that’s not even all of them! Plus… I have a wishlist of about 50 other species (Anampses chrycosephalus is at the very top).
