Stray Voltage, Need HELP!!!!!

So I have found that I have about 20v of stray voltage running through my reef. My wall that I have the reef on only has the 2 prong outlets not the 3 prong grounded ones. “Older home”. I bought a grounding probe and am running it to the outlet across the room because we redid all the electrical except for that on wall because of the plaster work that on it. . My question is, is there any way I can use the grounding probe on the 2 prong outlet? I mean it has to grounded some how right? If anyone knows anything about electrical and can give any advise I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks All!!

That 20v reading is meaningless.

No you cannot plug the probe into an ungrounded receptacle. The receptacle MUST be connected to equipment grounding conductor.

You should replace those receptacles with GFCIs and label each “no equipment ground”. This will not provide a connect for the probe but will make the receptacles MUCH safer.

Never use a ground probe without all of the equipment being protected by a GFCI.

One thing you may find googling is joining the neutral and ground on the outlet, don't do that.

Other option is if you can fish a insulated ground wire to that outlet, you can do that.

Is it near a water (lead/metal) outlet? You can ground on that (assuming that all the pipe is lead/metal)
