My wife bought me something I've always wanted, a Carpet Anemone. We have other anemones, but any tips on care for them would be appreciated. Also its a pretty unique color scheme. I just wanted to share it!

Will do,would like it to get nice and big and provide a home for our clowns. They still won't leave their temporary Condy which is funny that they like it so much. Also while moving the condy it brushed my arm and left some very nice "burn" marks! Can only imagine what the carpet could do? I think I'll be leaving both of them alone.

What does the underside of the oral disc look like?
Can you get a further out picture? (( trying to figure out how big it is ))
Really trying to figure out the ID, to see if it is a hosting anemone or not.

Its about 6-8" across. The underside is a pale fleshy color,sort of whitish purple. I hope its a hosting carpet, but we still really like it. Any info you find would be great.

Is the underside smooth or are there little bumps?
It looks like an S. haddoni (( a hosting anemone, but also a known fish eater )), but something about that picture is making me doubt it (( can't pinpoint what )). If it moves to the sandbed (( natural placement for an S. haddoni )) that would help me with the ID.

It's definitely a haddoni, the underside is smooth. It's foot is in the sand bed, through the rocks.

That is a Haddoni. There is no doubt about it. They need a sand bed, low current , at least not high enough to lift up his oral plate. These guys are notorious fish eater. Put a basket on him when you "mess witht he tank" to keep fish from accidently bumb on to him
Agreed there have been allot of stripped ones coming in lately and are real cool...
You know what is funny. I had two maxi minis (Stichodactyla tapetum) eat some fish lately.

Did the clown go in on its own, or was it forced?
There is something about the green striped ones, they seem to have a stronger sting, and are sticker than any other color morph of S. haddoni that I have kept (( have had at least 5 other color morphs )). Even my (( since sold )) pair of A. polymnus (( natural combo )) had issues trying to be hosted by mine at first.
