I'm starting my first mixed reef tank and I'm shopping for substrate. What is the difference between caribsea pink Fiji dry reef sand and caribsea aragonite aquarium reef sand. The price difference is about 20.00 per 40.lbs. I plan on buying two bags for my 90 gallon tank with 100 lbs of dry rock from reef cleaners. I'm hoping this is enough sand and rock to start with. I plan on seeding a couple of pounds of live rock and a scoop of sand from the lfs. Here's a link to the plain reef sand. Any other money saving ideas would be appreciated. http://www.petsmart.com/fish/suppli...ite-aquarium-reef-sand-16742.html?cgid=300014

The pink Fiji dry sand has a slightly smaller grain size. Here is a calculator you can use to determine how much sand you need.

I wouldn't really worry about seeding either with live rock or a scoop of sand. You will have no issues using all dry sand and dry rock if you want. If you want your tank to cycle faster I would use Dr Tims ammonia along with a bacteria in a bottle product.
