Great question! There are a lot of options and a lot of great choices! Waterbox and Innovative Marine offer some popular options but 10g, 20g, and 29g can also be purchased on sale sometimes for as little as $1 per gallon. Some people prefer all-in-ones (AIO) and others prefer a sump even for a nano system. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Really like innovative marine. Very high quality and they have good accessories that fit the tanks. For example it can be hard to find a good protein skimmer that fits a nano tank.

I don't have a preference, but AIO (all-in-one) aquariums are easiest to care for IME. The IM Nuvo 10 or 20 are two favorites. A 10g combined with AI Prime 16HD, Kessil A80, REEFLED 50 or 20g with Radion XR15 PRO, Kessil A160W, or REEFLED 90 will grow anything you would ever want. If you want to go cheaper and deal with a little DIY something like the Fluval Spec III or V will save about $45-$100 and could be paired with a cheaper light - which is great for a soft coral only tank. A local reef store has a used Nuvo 10 with AI 16HD for $275 - which would run you about $400 new. So look around!

I've had both AIO (Current) and in-stand sump tank (former). Personally, I like in-stand sumps. The amount of hassle that an AIO creates for me is .. a little much. It's just really inconvenient at. My stand is a DIY job but it's to the same height as the APS from IM and it's just far too high (I'm 6ft) to comfortably mess around in the back when its against the wall. Space is just easier IMO. To each their own.

I like the fluval evo 13.5 , it’s a nice AIO and in my opinion, fairly easy to maintain . Only downside is it’s a little small so it all depends what you want in your reef tank .

Evo 13.5 is great but made mods to filtration (media racks) and upgraded the pump to mj1200. Most will replace the light but so far it was been fine for softies and LPS
Yup , i use intank media basket , sicce syncra 1.0 return pump and ai prime 16HD . Great little tank

I looked around for a while and settled on the "Cade" 16 Gal Pr400 it has about the best finish I have seen. Red Sea came close. But I went for the Cade especially because I am familiar with the skimmer, Sq90

Spend the money on the tank... Its honestly the cheapest part of the reef tank and sets you up on having a really nice platform. If you compare it to a house, your tank is the foundation. You don't want to buy a house with a bad foundation because everything is built upon it. You can get cheaper lights instead of a AI prime especially for a 10G.

What lights for a ten gallon would you guys recommend. Thank You

All the lights I mentioned above will grow anything you'd put in your tank; plus there are cheaper alternatives if you look around. Lights are personal preference. You need to find a local fish store to see what each would look like. My preference is Kessil, but the AI 16HD +12' goose neck arm would probably be your best bet.

Hi you can keep living reef inhabitants alive in many types of tanks I use a 12x12x24 inch tank with simple filtration and lower end led lights. I am not a slave to the masses or a robot!

if you do some reading here, many posts discuss the long term advantages of live rock vs dry rock.
I've used gulfliverock.com $85 for 17 lbs shipped.
Or live rock from a fish store, not petco.
Search Marinepure and aluminum with ICE testing to help your decision.
