Hi all;
I am a newbee who is currently started for new project. My tank is 150x45x50h and sump is 100x40x40h in cm's. >I need some advice for the selection of pipe thickness for water going and coming to sump. Do they have to be the same ? and also what will be the flow rate for return pump at least?

Thank you

Did the tank come pre-drilled with bulkheads for plumbing? Dual or single drain line? Pix are always helpful.

Most commonly, the drain line is 1.25" and the return is 3/4". As for flow rate through the return, that is a highly debated topic. DC pumps are my recommendation since the flow can be dialed up/down.

Thank you for your quick reply. In fact the tank is not built yet. I will use beans animal system with 2 active drain and 1 emergency.

In that case utilize the large drain lines, 1.5" or greater. Coupled with an oversized DC pump, you'll have the ability to dial up the turn over to your heart's content. Again this isn't necessary, but the pumps will last longer and be quieter when run at less than 100%.

For reference I run mine between 50-60% regularly.

The design of the tank is like the picture. I convert the cm to inches for better understand. It is a wall mounted tank in my house. The left part which i wrote "spare water" will be inside the wall . I am curious about the sump design if it is correctr or not.
