I have a male Blue Gudgeon dartfish who has recently become unable/unwilling to swim in the water column. I noticed this behavior just today while feeding.
He was attempting to get food, and was just hopping up (not very far) and trying to grab food.
He has no signs of physical pain/cuts
and was definitely trying to eat. He has
normal coloration and breathing as well.
I’ve had no aggression with him at all with any of the other tankmates either.
He’s also been eating from my hands recently along with the other fish.
In fear of him getting hurt, I removed him from the tank and placed him in a breeder cup with some Macro Algae and some food.

I assume it’s swim bladder, any ideas on what I should do?

Would also like to list his diet if that helps
I’ve been having to cut back on frozen food recently due to school... maybe that’s why he’s not acting well?

I usually feed: Nano Reef Frenzy, Frozen Mysis, Frozen Brine, New Life Spectrum Pellets, Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 Flakes, Omega One Marine Color Flakes.

Within the past week Ive feed frozen on 2 days (I usually do all/most days :( )

Sorry to be that guy, but I’m just going to bump this... I would really like some advice with this.

Should I move it over to the disease forum?

Could you post a video? It could be swim bladder or spinal injury. Is the head turned up or down when swimming and is it completely unable to right itself?

I’m going to attempt to get a video today. It’s head is turned in a normal position, but he can’t seem to lift himself into the water column very high, I let him back out into the tank and he’s still eating. It sits straight similar to how a goby would sit perching on a rock, he will hop from rock to rock and wait for food to come by his mouth, normally he would be swimming in the water column eating food

He sits like this unless I’m feeding, that picture is weird cause it looks like he’s crooked, if he’s in the sand he’s completely flat.
