Hey all,

I am hoping some of you can chime in and help me out here. I am trying to decide whether I should go with a LED system or a T5 system over my 34g Solana (20" x 20" x 20")?

For T5:

* I would have to go with a 24" fixture (4 bulb) so it would hang over about 2 inches on both sides... Not a deal blower for me.
* I can choose several different 24w ATI bulbs for the color I am going for. Something like Blue +, Blue Special, Purple +, Blue + would probably be what I would go with.
* More energy efficient that MH.

For LED:

* Practically "0" heat given off and energy efficient.
* Very long lasting bulbs (with T5's I would end up spending ~$80/yr on replacing lights).
* Depending on the fixture I were to buy I could get similar color as T5s (I have supplemental LED lighting as well - Powerbrite).

For the LED systems I have been thinking about the following: AI Sol Nano, luke33's newest 110w LED offering, 100w or 120w Evolution LED, etc

If you are thinking T5s, let me know what fixture you would go with (as I haven't investigated these too much yet). Would I need to worry about heat from T5s or would this be minimal?

I plan on basically keeping everything in this tank, from zoas to SPS. SPS would stay near the top in most cases.

Thanks!

If I went T5 I'd go with an ATI Sunpower. I'm really starting to dig the LED look. Every time I see a led lit tank it just glows. GL

120w Evolution LED is the way to go. I have mine over my Solana 34 gal but have to keep it 12" off the top as the light is to powerfully for the tank. If you go T5 either the ATI or TEK fixtures are best.
