T5 Question

Hey Guys,
If I were to go with These Hybrid T5's for my Frag tank. I might put a kessill or Xr15 in or might not. What bulb combo would I need
to grow frags in frag tank?

I’m pretty sure actinics cover the most important part of the spectrum for growth and don’t do as much for aesthetics. So as long as you have those, you can add your blues or whatever else for the colors to pop

I bought mine from EBay. I got the ATI brand T5 actinic. Coral plus. Blue. And blue special.
I use actinic and coral plus. With fluval Leds strips. 2 T5 bulbs and 2 led strips but if you want more you’ll need the right fixture. My tank is small so I don’t run a lot

I wouldn’t say it’s the best but some bulbs are specifically engineered to cover spectrum that focuses on growth like Actinics. The others cover different ratios but they actually make a difference in the colors you see. Actinics don’t do much for aesthetics. Tidal Gardens did a video about ATI bulbs and that’s what I bought so I can’t comment on other T5 brands

I like it more bluish but I think the more white the faster the growth. The lower the Kelvin I am guessing means more white.

With 4 ATI bulbs, I would go with 3 Blue + and 1 Coral +.

You could buy those four and also an actinic so you could experiment. It's only 20 bucks or so.

Actinic will give your corals some fluorescence, but look dim and washed out to the eyes. They have their place, but I wouldn't use one in a 4 bulb fixture. Up to you of course.

I use an 8 bulb ATI PM hybrid over my 60 cube. I've played with several bulb combos, and settled on 6 blue plus and 2 coral plus. I think you can have success with multiple combos, but I too would personally go with 3 Blue + and 1 Coral +

Agreed but the purpose of the Actinics to my understanding weren’t about the appearance and more about supplementing and covering the important parts of the spectrum. Though that’s where I think the Coral Plus shines

If it were my tank I’d likely run 2-6500k and 2-true actinic and use them primarily just during the peak intensity hours.
