Rybren and Smitten Thanks. She is much better today thank God as my Grand Daughter and her friend will be here for a couple of days. The shots are working for now and usually last a week or two. The shots in her face are very painful as you can imagine. 😬

My early beach walk was uneventful except I rescued this horseshoe crab. He, like so many of them was up side down on the sand but still alive and I don't think he was doing the macarena so I put him back in the water.

I'm not sure who was chained to this rock, but the bristle worms must have finished him off last night because he is gone now.

And, I found some live asphalt. I have some of this in my tank. Great stuff. 😃

What kind of lighting and parameters are best for Asphalt? lol

This guy is very hard to get a picture of. In the years I have had him, I took this just now, but I think he is mad at me for taking it. Maybe he is Pennsylvania Dutch.

These guys are much easier and usually sit long enough to pose.

None of my tangs have ever seen nori and there isn't a spot on either of them. 😃
None of them like any of the algae I have growing now.

Gravel pounders or asphalt burners?

Nice looking beach Lowell. I love the beach and don't think I could live far from one for too long.

When I was stationed in Colorado for 6 months I thought it was really nice, but I always said it needed a beach. 😁

Here on the Sound it is very rocky which I prefer because I spend a lot of time looking under rocks.

Our south shore beaches are all pure white sand. But I find them boring but better for swimming or surfing. It's covered in snow here.

On a hot summer day there could be 8 and a half million people on the one of our larger beaches. Which is the main reason I stay away from them. 😬

This is Coney Island in Brooklyn. I was born near here the same year they invented rocks.

This gives me the horrors.

I prefer a rocky beach with tide pools to explore. But I go where the family dictates! This was my wife's family who rents a house each year for a get together. It was great but the surf fishing was not good. Had to buy a fish dinner instead of catching one.

I enjoy a beach the way I enjoy vacations. Very few or any crowds. I go to some tropical place and don't go to any tourist places. If I am going to SCUBA I ask the hotel concierge to find me a local guide to take me somewhere remote and they take me and my wife, throw us in the water and come back or wait for us. Not any more of course, but when my wife was healthy.

Then I like to find a remote beach with few if any people. We once found a beach on either Bora Bora or some tiny Island in the Caribbean where there was a small bar right in the sea. You sat on hanging chairs that were strung from palm trees over the water. Like 5 or 6 people there.

This was the sailing ship in the harbor we took on Bora Bora. They filmed "Mutiny on the Bounty" here.
Our ship, the Windstar.

This dock in the lower picture on Bora Bora had a tiny restaurant that only had about 10 chairs. You order something and the "kid" jumps in the water and spears it for you.
The Lady who owned the place came out with "Gourmet" magazine, printed in New York, and on the cover was this Lady with Bill Gates arm around her

Then once I think on Bequi (sp) we walked across the miniscule island where there was little more than goats and iguanas to a beautiful tiny cove that had a small island in the center that you could swim to. Not one person there. Those are the places I love.

Naturally, very hard to find which is what makes them perfect.
On our Honeymoon over 50 years ago we went to Hawaii. A girl I used to date moved there and she used to be in our crowd so we were all friends. This was on Maui. She got her friends together and took us to a beach like this.

I actually took this from a helicopter on Kauai. They filmed the original King Kong here and one of the Indiana Jones movies. You can only get here by boat or helicopter.

Her friends dug a big hole on the beach and lit a fire in it to heat up rocks which they stuffed inside a pig and buried. That evening we went back there and dug it up. Best bacon I ever had. 😀

These places can be found if you are already in a tropical place but you have to get away from anything "provided" by the hotel or tour staff. Just ask for a local guide and many of them are glad to help and need a few bucks.

OOOhhhh NNNooooo. I just looked in my tank and virtually all the fish had spots..........

Then I cleaned my reading glasses, and all the spots went away. 😬
