Yungreefer, you don't need ozone or real seawater but it is better if you have access. For many years I used 99% fake water. I also started my tank with rock I collected in Hawaii and the Caribbean, but I had to bleach it in the hotel to carry it home on my lap on the plane. Today, they would just shoot you if you tried that. I also put in garden soil for bacteria. I know the rumors, but if you listen to all that, you can never have a natural tank.
Forget bacteria and parasites as bad things and think of them as helpful, needed things.
Me and Atoll are Geezers and have been doing this forever and never have any problems and most of our older fish are in nursing homes living out their Social Security. Diseases in this hobby are for people why just didn't yet learn how to get past that. But eventually we will all learn the easy way to do this. :D

That's a beautiful tank, atoll.

Also, Paul, I meant to say that I love your videos, keep 'em coming!
Thanks it was a truly wonderful tank and that pic was taken just before I broke it down as I am getting ready to move house in the New Year. Needs must and all. [emoji21]

So I finished my Pre Surgery check up yesterday for the Knee I am getting for my birthday on Christmas and they asked me if I had any loose teeth. I said no.
Just now I was brushing my teeth, and my front tooth fell out. You know you are old when parts start falling off of you. (it was an implant)

Now I have to try to get that fixed before my surgery in 2 days or I can't fix it for months because I am not allowed to have dental work after the surgery. I am not quite sure why as I didn't know your tooth nerve was connected to your knee nerve.

There is a thread on here now running to 4 pages about that "nasty stuff" detritus it's quite funny. Just been told as I don't use prefiltration to "wait till my ricks fill with phosphate and GHA explodes" so I have asked the poster how long shouId I wait and that a ball park figure will do

I have no place to put pre filtration because I don't have a sump so I am sitting here waiting for detritus to form or my tank to crash.

Do you have plans to bring a sump back online? And install another 5-6' long water trough that will fill with worms, crabs, and super models that didn't make it?

I never had a sump so I don't think I will bring it on line. But I have not ruled it out yet. I also may not install the trough as I can't find the time, but that is also not ruled out. Supermodels are always welcome. :D

sorry if you covered this already, but did you set back up that huge DIY skimmer for this tank?

Also, could you do a quick run down on the equipment you did transfer over/replaced for the move?

All I can remember is you got a new under gravel filter..

Yes, I still run that DIY skimmer as it is the only skimmer I have and would never think to buy one. The only other equipment I have is the reverse UG filter. This tank is a little larger so I bought a new one of those. My heaters are the same but I had to buy new lights. When I moved I transferred my DIY, water cooled lights which had open wiring. The new place was so damp where the tank is because of concrete floor and no drywall taping that the dampness shorted out the entire thing and I could not get it to light.
I have no other equipment.

also, i went to NYC for my honeymoon and took a picture of some workers going at it on a big building to be as it made me think of you haha.

I don't know what kind of lights I have but I hope they were not made in China. I am afraid to look at the name plate.
You came to NYC on purpose? Really.

Please drink the beet juice as well as my unce who is a dr. told me there is nothing better;) All the best for you and your lovely wife!

Yungreefer, yes, LEDs, there is nothing better.

JoannaLoLa, thank you. I have to make more Beet juice today before my surgery.

I have to say I have a great wife. Last night she threw me a fantastic surprise birthday party at a hard cider mill here. She had about 40 of our closest friends and it was a blast. Well, as blasty as it can get for Geezers.
Some of these people we know from high school.
I was totally surprised, everyone kept it a big secret. She threw me a 30th, 40thy, 50th, 60th and I still didn't catch on. Boy, an I easy to fool. :p

No worries. Just get some reef safe glue, stick it back in there and call it good. ;)
