I thought the kids will like some fish. I’ve got 3 little girls. Little did I know I’d catch the big hard. I spend way more time with the tank than they do. And I’ve already got a bigger tank delivering Friday to start from scratch. This is my first tank. Went with fluval 32g AIO with live rock and water from the lfs to get it started immediately. Loving so much learning all about coral and reefs. So I’m doing what I can to make them happy and grow. I have no idea about these lights that are under this lid so soon I’ll ditch this lid and put some good lights on it. Maybe a hang on refugium someday. And keep making it as custom as I can do it can thrive. Things are okay but only that frogspawn and leather in the back are thriving. The leather was about 3 inches 4 months ago. Now I’m gonna have to learn to frag and give away some pieces so it doesn’t take over the tank. Just trying now to get the corals in the right place so they grow. I know I have too many fish but whatever. Mistakes make me learn. If anybody sees anything really wrong with this setup please let me know. I needed a hobby and am glad I found one. Having more fun than I’ve had in a decade. I’ll keep posting how things are going.

Stay tuned as I document my success or most likely many failures as I try to completely customize my AIO fluval 32 gal tank.

Step one complete. Needed good lighting. Since this AIO was cheaper than a single led light I can figure one reason I don’t get much if any growth in half my corals. But it’s not so simple changing lights when what I had was in the lid. So I made a screen lid and added a hybrid fixture above. Screen doesn’t fit perfectly since a lot still hangs on the glass. But it’s solid, won’t move, and won’t let any fish jump out. Even just looking at my corals the colors are so much more vibrant with the t5. I’m adding the led this week when it comes in the mail. Gonna turn this into a great tank. One step at a time. It ain’t gonna be pretty but all I care about is what’s inside. Any suggestions what to try to add next?
