Tank size question....

So I am planning on upgrading my tank and need some opnions on size and dimensions. I am looking into the 125-150 gallonage range. Do you guys suggest one size over the other? I know the more water volume the better, so take the sump out of the equation. I am talking about which one would look best? What dimesnions look best in your opnion and why? Thoughts on manufacturers?No rimless as it has to have a canopy per the Wife.So thoughts and suggestions... Thank you in advance!

Go with the longest and widest tank you can fit. To me, the "ideal" tank is the standard 180...it's six feet long and two feet wide. It allows the width for great rock-work and the length for a diverse fish selection.

I am looking at a standard 135 or a 150 thats 4x3x2 I think is the footprint....thats what I am thinking as of right now... hence my asking of you all.

I'd agree with the 180g 6x2x2 if you can fit it into the space and wife is okay with it. I got a 225 recently (6x2x30'' tall) and it's great but it isn't fun not being able to reach the bottom in some places. A 180 would give more fish options than a 4ft tank and a little bit more water volume.

Personally, I like a standard 120g. 48" x 24" x 24"

48" lighting is easy to find, and many of their mounts fit nicely on top. 2" depth is great for aquascape, and 2" height is fairly easy to light with off the shelf fixtures.

Oh, and it's pretty easy to find a place in the house to put them, too. :) Just my .02

I dont think a 180 will fit... will have to measure and received approval, LOL... I like the idea of a 4 foot tank, but maybe a 6 if I can fit it.

I do like the 150. It is a much taller tank and does make maintainence somewhat difficult unless you have go-go-gadget arms. The look with a 150 is awesome though, the depth is awesome and a rockwall on the back cant be beat.

I personal prefer a 150-180 just keep in mind the deeper the tank the more light you have to output. So try and stay away from the deep 30" but get the biggest tank you can afford cause you'll always want a bigger tank.

I have seen a 150 thats 4ft by 3 ft by 2ft I think..... Thoughts on that? I dont particularly want a tall tank... Mine is tall now and I have a problem reaching the bottom....

i would suggest longer over wider just because of the fish than need swimming room. and i 3 foot wide tank you might wat to messure that out with some wood to get a good pic in your head
