TANK TALK: Create a mini "day in the life" story for your reef tank. What happens from sunrise to sunset in your aquatic world? Bonus points for creativity and humor!
Well ... Depends on the day. Today...

Lights up

O bleeeep is that a razor?!?

Clean glass

Sun down.... Well... Mostly it's calm.

Wrasses head to bed earliest, old souls, everyone else stays up pretty late.

TANK TALK: For those of you already using the plank: share an experience, picture, or video of feeding time!
Well since I'm not using the plank, yet I desperately want to, I'll add this here...

TANK TALK: What equipment on a stock aquarium system is necessary to upgrade for fish and corals to thrive? Weigh in on your thoughts below for your entry today.
Usually the pump they include (I've only had AIOs) needs an upgrade. IM has changed that, because I generally like their MightyJets. If it comes with an LED it's almost definitely going into a box in the garage.

Flow, and lighting are musts for corals, and filtration is a must for fish. Overall I would say flow, lighting, and filtration are must have upgrades.

Lights and flow typically can do it for you. Usually, if you're upgrading the lights you're going to upgrade the lid as well.

Other items that are beneficial are going to b automaters. Dosers can make it easier. Testing equipment is a good idea but there are some LFS that can test reliably.

As the others have said. Lights and flow. I would focus more on power heads than return pumps. Turnover through the filter is less important to me because I have enough surface area for the nitrogen cycle in the tank itself.
...But my tank is a mess.

I don't have one, but can I pretend I do? My experience would be knowing that the Plank will be there to do the feeding when I need to travel.

I think as most have already said, flow and light. Maybe upgrading to a more reliable heater or an extra heater?

Always lighting. Nearly every light that comes in a kit is nit enough for photosynthetic organisms

I would probably use this for breakfast cereal and just fit it above my bed for convenience, the jump gaurd/ net will act as a 'bib' just to ensure all food will not fall on my bed... I hate crumbs

Nom nom auto feeder above my bed...

The first thing i upgrade is the return pump(for somthing quiet) or the lighting. After that it really is "extra" :)

Light and flow. The lighting on most stock aquarium systems will be insufficient for most coral and typically more flow is necessary than just a return can provide.
