Yikes just read through some of those Instagram comments....guy is making himself look like a real piece of work. He clearly has wayyyyyyy too much time on his hands now. Definitely not the kind of person you want running a company. He can’t handle criticism to save his life. The fact that he is saying it’s not his responsibility to educate people on care for fish but gives them a complete tank with fish in it is just crazy talk! They talk a big game about fish healthy and safety but saying it’s not their responsibility is going back on everything they supposedly stand for...what a clown

interesting read. They were good for the industry when the industry was down. I feel that they were great acrylic artist but that is about it. Their filtration and sustainability was their opportunities.

Agreed. The guys is a massive ego maniac.

He tells people to bow down to him right off the bat after it was just news being reported by reef2reef and does not expect some lash back.
Then he attacks others.

He is making those that say he does not deserve it look bad. some of the names he is calling people.. Just walk away dude.

ATM is a tank manufacture they turned into Fish keepers once animal planet came calling. This was obvious when they used tap water and stocked the tank with 50+ show size fish. You can see later on they where little more modest in there stocking and such. I love the show its super entertaining and anything about this Industry can keep my interest. However, 95% of the population can care less about fish chemistry and biology so they just focus on instant success which appeals to the masses, I personally loved the show Fish tank kings alot more because they took pride in keeping their animals and educating us, its a shame this show was canceled Francis was a fish geek who knew his stuff!

I think this is the longest thread I have ever read. I watched almost every episode, and found it entertaining in a brain-dead sort of way. I watch almost everything DVR'ed, and I'm the one person in the household that will back up and watch the last 45 seconds of a commercial to make sure I don't miss anything. This show was a noticeable exception.

My wife is close to someone who is a contestant on American Idol this year. Through her, we have found out that the reality of that show is nowhere close to what gets put on the air. The audition in front of the judges is about the fifth audition contestants have. The producers apparently decide who gets past Hollywood Week.

Another friend of mine worked on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He told me you can play two episodes side by side and the same thing happens in each episode at the same time. They move the bus several times to make sure they get the take right for TV. I'd bet dollars to donuts you can do the same thing with Tanked. I think I sprained my eye muscles every time Heather or Agnes acted like they learned something new about a very common fish at the wholesaler.

Despite being called "reality TV," it's all scripted.

As an aside, anyone remember when MTV played music videos? How about when Discovery Channel and Animal Planet actually talked about science, technology and nature instead of bigfoot and ghosts?

That may be true but my issue is it made our hobby look like we did not care about the animals. It also attracted some people who thought they could buy a tank, fill it with water and dump fish in.
Our hobby is under fire right now and we do not need it portrayed that way.

I don’t believe I said anything about not seeing any animal planet post from Lowell lemon I was speaking in general. And I may have worded it wrong. My point is if you look at a lot of the post on this thread it’s a lot of Hateful talk. Not all post but its a big portion. I thought R2R was supposed to be better than others but when you see Alot of the comments it’s just sad. For the record I didn’t care for the show.

Several of their "builds" have showed up for sale on the interwebs for thousands of dollars. I always wondered why people would pay ridiculous amounts of money for junk that doesn't work but a fool and his money... As the saying goes. You never saw someone who was very wealthy and wanted a showstopper set up on that show because they have their systems designed and built by pros and it takes weeks sometimes months. This show was a gimmick as most "reality tv" is. ATM will be out of business in 2 years.
