That maybe true but newcomers will come reguardless of a show or not I for one got inspired to have a tank by going to my local aquarium and acouple of restaurants that have tanks had nothing to do with tv

If they are really cycling the tanks, why were they so concerned about the temp of the water they were adding to it and scarmbling to bring it down with ice before they add the fish? You would think that if they were cycling the temp of the water during initial fill would not of been a concern.

I for one would like too see how the tanks have fared after a week/month

Thanks for pointing that out, I was about to post the same thing.

And to those who say, "well they're obviously successful, so they must be doing something right.."-- Success is no indication of competence. They're probably doing the maintenance contracts for these tanks. With an initial cost so high, what casino owner is going to blink at a $500 a month outlay to replace those fish as they die?

How hard would it be to run a quick disclaimer at the beginning of the show: "all installations performed involve a 4-6 week cycle time of the filtration equipment to allow the fish to stay healthy in the new tank. This is not shown in the actual aired footage for the sake of continuity", or something like that?

There needs to be some communication that there is more involved than just setting up a tank and putting fish in it, just so folks don't go out and repeat what it looks like these guys are doing. Even fish only tanks have to cycle. And if they are adding a pre-cycled filtration system to the new install, it should be communicated somewhere.

They only filmed the show from January through March (see Nancy Glass Productions "Tanked"). With the number of tanks they threw together and set up for these 6 episodes... maybe 1 to 2 tanks designed and set up per episode so 6 to 12 tanks in 12 weeks there's no way they could build and cycle them for 4 to 6 weeks. That's like one tank per week, or one tank every two weeks from design to reveal. I'm clueless as to how long it takes to build these tanks but I wouldn't think it'd be less than a week.

I watched it last Friday and I must say I'm not a fan of the show. The people were loud and fake, and did not give an accurate potrayal of what's involved in SW set up nor could they in a one hour reality show. I will probably continue to watch it to see all of their ideas, but the more I watch it the more disgusted I get. I guess because I feel there will be people starting tanks up for the first time, not realizing the dedication it takes to maintain them.....where does that leave the coral and fish?

You all need to relax a bit. It is called a show for a reason. You really think people will tune in to see the guys add a raw piece of shrimp to start the ever so exciting cycle? LOL! There are a lot of things you don't see behind the scenes and a lot of things that are for show.

Wow.... Rev says it best!

Did anyone ever really watch the OCC, Deadliest Catch, Real Housewives of XYZ, oa Auction Kings and think 'I know all there is to know now and want to buy, work, act or sit in on one of these auctions?' If you did, you likely should try out for the next role call of any reality show. Drama is the name of the game, which a heavy dose of Wow with the imagery of the build. The dirty work behind this wouldn't sell the show to anyone but us 'Geeks' on this site.

Not only do they handle the fish pretty badly and make no effort the properly QT the fish, they don't seem to be very aware of the care of the fish either. Just take the shark tank alone. They put temperate horn sharks and leopard sharks that come from 50-60F degree water in the same cramped exhibit with blacktips that come from tropical waters. Even if the temperature is okay for the blacktips, the tank is way to small for them to properly thrive and grow.
Thumbs down that's for sure, embarrassed that I even watched it.

Have you been to Sea World Orlando...or any Sea World? Yeah, Orlando has a little problem with population of sharks to gallonage ratio. Happens everywhere across the hobby from the LFS holding a 3' Nurse shark in a 300gal to the 'Tanked' shark tank. It's the nature of the beast when housing wild animals in captivity. We are no better as aquarists for holding our livestock captive either in a MUCH smaller footprint than they are accustomed to.

Really awesome show! I do not agree with their practices on stocking fish but. After all.... they are a tank manufacturer and probably rarely get into reef tanks or after care of the livestock when the projects are finished. You know what they say any publicity is good publicity so +1 on getting the saltwater hobby out there and on TV! Good Job guys! I will for sure continue to watch!

These are fish only tanks guys....what's the issue here? Tap water is just fine. Dechlorinate and buffer PH done. Treat fish with meds for parasites and they should do just fine in these huge setups. I'm sure there is a method to their madness. Again they don't install and contract huge tanks because they are unsuccessful

The mixture of fish is detrimental. Some of these fish will kill each other.

Those were some bad *** tanks they built in this episode I just wish they would do real reef tanks instead of Fish Only

Yea I enjoyed the show very much.

In tonight's episode, they showcased the addition of the coral-covered cross to the 57,000g tank at the church here in Dallas, Tx. They stated the tank had 600 fish. That's 95g per fish, y'all. :)

HAHAHA! Marc your awesome.

I actually watched it and I couldn't see one thing in tonight's episode that was questionable. I loved the antic's!

Most of their customers have no idea on how to take care of a fish only tank let alone a reef tank.

Yeah I enjoyed tonights show...the hot sauce was funny
