Just a photo of his mantle from when he was opening in the car, he’s currently in acclimation for 30 minutes and then he’ll be in the tank!! This clam is a beauty and definitely worth the money.

What kind of money are we talking here? That clam looks huge! And Bright blue in the bag, nice!

If only it was actually huge, he’s just a bit smaller than my Deresa is currently so actually relatively small.
And bright blue is definitely the right words for it!! Here’s a Top Down, spot the two clams ;)

Now it’s so blue that even a filter can’t deal with it, I wish that I could get an actual photo of this clam under blues, I’ve never seen something even close to this.

I’ve also now discovered why glass and clams don’t mix. My maxima is always visible the same way no matter what but something about the new clam (Still undetermined what it actually is) causes it to show full pattern top down but just looks like a purple mantle side on.

Also, here’s a photo of the Fire shrimp I picked up today, he’s all over the tank and very energetic.

I promise this isn’t me stalling because I don’t have videos of PE yet haha.

How do I reply with an emoji again :face-with-tears-of-joy: Like having it appear the same place the like button does without actually just a separate reply. Or am I being stupid and that’s how it works:rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

What’s the coral in the sand bed in the very back?

That’s my beautiful 8 head hammer, I believe when I measured it was the size of a large tennis ball

If you’re on a phone like me, press and hold the like button but if you’re on computer then I believe it’s just by hovering over the like with your cursor but I don’t really use computers unless it’s for something like an article.

I did move him up into the rockscape a bit more as he’s a nice clam and rather hidden round the back. I’m now able to see its scutes and they don’t look to be even but I’m not a pro in clam IDs.
Here he is before I moved him. He’s nicely settled into the tank and opening up in his new spot nicely (I haven’t gotten round to taking a photo of him in the new spot yet).

Just did a water change and I’m currently getting the parameters.
So far, Kh is 8.35 but usually I prefer to keep it around 10-11dkh since I have the clams.
My Phosphates are 0.015 although I used to have them at 0.045 (I never found much of an issue with higher phosphates though)
And my Nitrates are between 0 and .5 but usually they’re not much higher then that either.

I managed to forget the other three so will be doing them a few hours after lights on tomorrow, I prefer to do tests during the white light periods as I know my lights have been on for a while so everything is in that photosynthesis period.

The videos of PE in this tank are coming shortly!!

As promised, videos of the PE and colours under blues!! The new growth is beautiful and they really are fast growing.
Unfortunately this isn’t all of them and my fastest grower isn’t videoed as he’s round the back and hard to get a video of.

And an extra video, will most likely get an update on the Deresa out tomorrow :)

Remember, high alk needs higher nutrients. You don’t want to deal with tip burn. :)

Many people keep clams around 8dKH, but going for higher is fine as well.

Will definitely keep this in mind, the tank grows nicely at 8-9dKh so I think I’ll aim for there and 10 at the highest.

I’ve just remembered the time I used to look at clams and go “They’re boring…” I also used to think the same about SPS but now I have this tank dedicated to both of them, I don’t think I could ever have a clamless tank. SPS are also a coral I now enjoy because their polyps just extend so nicely when they’re happy.
