A better look at him. If there’s one thing I enjoy about having a shallow tank it’s that the wave maker isn’t like half way down the tank and you only have to get your fingers wet. Definitely a plus side when adding something like an urchin.

You really should, I had 3 of these guys in a 3’x2’x2’ tank for 4 years and they didn’t move coral around as much as my Pincushions do.
But also, that velvet blue look they have is stunning. Definitely the prettiest urchin out there IMO.

A couple FTSs from today! I finally got round to hitting the tough algae on the glass with a sponge and it worked extremely well. If you have the time I definitely recommend trying to find an unused kitchen sponge and getting the algae that way.

Well, water change day is here and the Deresa Clam has been moved into the sand a bit more (Turns out he hadn’t burrowed as far down as I thought). Now he has more growing room and his mantle isn’t right up against the barnacles. Also, look at that shell growth! He’s no longer as “wonky” as he was

I have unfortunately lost my Mexican Turbo Snail and I have never smelt anything more putrid… No seriously, even when I had an ammonia spike in my 4’ tank that didn’t smell as bad from all the fish death.

And because I believe this deserves its own post… Look at these guys! They’re extremely photogenic tonight and I think we’re just a few weeks away from getting the trio in one photo.

For those interested, my stocking plan so far is;
- Wetmorella tanakai pair (or trio depending on how many I find at once)
- Escenius bimaculatus (Cautious about my clams being nipped at so this is still questionable)
- Pseudocheilinops ataenia trio (Duh :face-with-rolling-eyes:)
- Some form of Shrimp Goby (Whether that’s Stongobiops yasha or Tomiyamichthys emilyae is undecided)

Some top downs from the water change today! In the 1st photo, you can see my Pistol Shrimp’s burrow. This tank is starting to look exactly how I imagined it (If not better). In the bottom two photos, the Pearlberry Acro and my Tennis ball sized Hammer can be seen.

Great tank. I love those clams. May try someday if I ever decide to get good lights.

Interesting. Mexicans are my favorite snail. If you remember that tank I had the leopard in it that was covered in algae. I put one in there and in under a week all the algae was gone and it was munching on my red gracilaria. I heard reef dork say they don't do well for him but I must have 10-15 and they're the only snail I trust not to die. But I guess with their size a death can be quite smelly.

I have found Mexican turbos to be easier than conches and trochus snails. The only downside is their size, I didn’t need an urchin to knock off coral haha.

The tank is really starting to come together and considering this is only a 2 month old tank that’s keeping thriving SPS and 2 clams, I’m very pleased with it.
And because I know you love this species, here’s some more pinky spam :)

Did you grow that hammer all by yourself? It’s so beautiful! I purchased one yesterday after seeing yours. :D

I did! He was brought at 2 heads and now has Atleast 6 if not 8-10. I think I’ve had him for a good 8-9 months by now.

That’s outstanding! What’s your secret?

@Erin1971Texas What’s your experience with wall hammers? Are they difficult to keep, because I think I purchased a wall yesterday.
