Quick deresa update;
He’s moved, I will admit it’s not a lot however here’s photos from just now.

I really do - At first I didn’t mind them but dang, taking photos and having to block out the reflection whilst keeping the colour isn’t easy.

Some more tups for taking pics: Block out all light except for the tank and wear black. Turn off the flow. Use a look down viewer. I usually go all out and change my room to do a whole photoshoot when my tank is doing good.

The clams from the water change as well as a top down of the red planet showing that polyp extension. I finally caught the beauty of the maxima’s mantle.

I keep meaning to try this myself, but I saw a video a long time ago on Inappropriate Reefer’s channel where he used the lid of a large box of Ferrero Roche chocolates as a look down viewer. Seemed to work great although it’s a little shallow so be careful. But think of it as a twofer - cheap look down viewer and all the chocolatey, hazelnutty goodness! :)

I fear my heater may have broken, so I walked I got he room with this tank in and all I could smell was something burning. Obviously with it being winter, my first thought was the radiator was burning something that had fallen behind it. So I cleared under the radiator and still smelt it.
My salinity guardian was beeping about the salinity of the water being too high so I went to check that. My return pump in the back was for some reason sounding like it had barely any water over it. I luckily caught it just in time and turned off everything on the tank. My heater however, unfortunately that is in the same compartment as the pump so about 2/3 of the heater was out of water. I can no longer smell burning so I know for sure it was the heater however I don’t actually know how long the heater had been out of water. Obviously the water had ran low in the night but I don’t know when in the night it did that as I had topped up just before I went to bed. I’m glad I had just enough RO to top up the water.

Anyone know whether the heater has blown?
In this photo the top of the heater can be seen.

it seems good to me.
It’s been running for a while and I’ve yet to have anything wrong with it yet - Going to my further away LFS today so we’ll see what it’s like when I get back.
And hopefully I’ll be able to hide my return pump which will (hopefully) remind me to top off the water every few days so I should be able to avoid that situation again.

I did it again… I went to my LFS only thinking I’d come home with 1 thing and came home with 4 things (1 of which was for my 4’ tank)
I know I have a lot of green already and I swear, next time I’ll try avoid green but these were just too eye-catchy to avoid.
So, for my Nano I got;
1x Neon Stylophora
1x Acropora sp. (I cant remember the exact ID but I’m sure one of you know it)
1x Montipora capticornis- I know I said I’d rather have a blue monti but this red is too nice not to have so I may try and graft it if I have the room where this one’s going and I’m sure you guys will figure out where if you know what one of my plans were and also look at the way it’s sat.

How do you plan on grafting it? A half blue half orange monti would looking amazing.
I’ll either try find a blue monti or a neon green monti. Certainly think that with that red it’ll truly look interesting.

This is a long over due FTS however here you go! The monti is mounted (I had to resort to glue and a zip tie).

I also now have a pile of coral that aren’t doing too well currently, I can’t figure out why my Red Planet decided to start bailing unless PE is more so open at night. The Tort decided to bail more however it did get buried in sand quite a bit. Same with the caulastrea and the Zoas just hang there doing their thing.

Not a book but I remember I had a few tapes of an old series about saltwater fish and mammals I used to watch with my grandfather. Those were the good old days lol.

Water Change day occurred later than usual - Christmas got in the way and we all know how chaotic that can be.
Here’s the first set of top downs I have gotten - more will come as the WC progresses :)

I know right! He seems to love this tank, and that deresa is showing the most golden colour I’ve ever seen in this species.
