I think I’ve managed to neglect mine too much to the point I may shut it down and start again this time actually watching it

I’m still trying to figure out whether I make a whole new build thread for this tank or not (opinions?) but here’s my 2nd Nano!
Yes, the Black Clown Goby is from the 3’ nano, he started to go for my Button Scoly.

I’m thinking I try out some GSP in this tank for the first time in a while to see if I can grow it yet.
Well, I did it! We have a 3rd build thread :D
When else is the perfect time to start one other than having a new tank in its place?

I need to update this thread again :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
There’s not much else going on in this tank, it’s just a case of waiting for all the corals to grow in now. Oh! The Choat’s is doing amazingly, I swear she’s even grown since adding her. She’s now awake until at least 5pm if not later and feeding on absolutely everything. Still a pain to photograph though.

I really need to get the camera back on this tank, I’ve been focusing a ton on the 5 foot but this tank truly has some stunning fish/coral in it.

And… The week I go to Panama the tank has a mass dieoff. This time of fish.
I have lost (bodies found);
- Male Pink Streak
- Lavender Firefish
And MIA;
- Choat’s Red Leopard
- Female Pink Streak

Hopefully they reappear, but they may not unfortunately which would annoy me as that choati I have had thrive since December. Ate from everything I fed and was really settled.
The cause for this is unknown, a pollutant is the main assumed cause so far. But I am left with;
- Yasha Goby
- Caribbean Sailfin Blenny
- Griessinger Goby (YES it’s still alive! How? No idea)
- Moyer’s Dragonet

And because photos are a must - spot the griessingeri!

What are your doing in Panama?
Working with young children to help learn English and I believe a bit of conservation.
I leave on Friday and won’t be back until the 14th of April.

Hey there. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you post.

Sorry to hear about the fish. Did they have any signs of diseases prior to dying?

Yeah, I’ve been around just not posting too frequently (and I’m terrible at updating build threads).
I’ve not seen any signs of disease prior to or after death, my Firefish had what appeared to be a spinal injury or possibly a neurological issue. And the male pinkie had an eye missing (I don’t know if this occured after death or before)

Well, now I’m back in the UK it was time to rebuild the stocking up. Obviously, I started with 3 fish, nothing too insane.
IMG_9835.jpeg

Oh, yeah I got 9 fish altogether over the last 3-4 days. I basically landed and went to an LFS…
I’ve still not gotten photos of the other 2 fish I got but they are… a Pygmy Hawkfish (Plectranthias inermis) and a Gold Band Possum Wrasse (Wetmorella nigropinnata).

Oh, and the other 2 tanks also got new fish…

Events at the LFS are dangerous… and when you’re sat hoping the stuff you stare at gets sold, but it doesn’t it gets even worse. This is half of the box I got… It’s missing the 5 rescue acros and a mini maxi nem..

It’s that time again… update day!!

Well, this time it’s a big update. For those of you who may have seen me talk about this tank (albeit it would’ve been a brief mention and skim over) you may know it’s undergone a lot more neglect than I’d like to admit. And I mean, my already limited time (due to having a shop) has gone into my other two tanks rather than this one.
So… what would be a better idea than a frag tank?
Yes, my sole aim is that this tank gets most of my attention. This means that my tank will become a functional system rather than a decorative system.
I’ll still keep all the fish I have - unintentionally almost all of them are actually ideal for a nano fragtank anyway!
So, tomorrows job will be a 50% water change, and removing a lot of (not all) my rock - wish me luck, this could go horribly wrong easily.
I may crush up parts of my rock I have in there, and well, making a “rubble” bed in some sense with open sand bed for when I eventually get another choati (hopefully juvenile).

Phase 1 to the frag tank…
Citric Acid works wonders if you’re too lazy to clean stuff :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
IMG_0809.jpeg

Yep! They’re the legs to the frag rack!! And here is the rack itself - fits perfectly in the middle of the tank so I can have rock around and under it! Now just to work out if I keep some of my prized corals in here (like the Amazeballs Goni I have).

It doesn’t look amazing side on, but once filled with coral this frag tank will hopefully look amazing.
I’ll also be experimenting my method of growing corals by mimicking a river mouth - it’s proven to work so far in my 5 footer, but I’m now wondering if it’ll work in a smaller tank.

Also, with the amount of neglect this tank has hit, it’s shocking how well the corals are doing!
I mean, here’s just one of the 3 chalices I have growing out.

What do you mean by mimicing a river mouth? Sounds interesting
