What do you mean they are the same fish? I heard they both are collected in Australia. Would they have different scientific names for the same fish collected in the same region?

I also speculated this. Since the fish I am getting are juvies, I assume they will turn male.
If I can get my hands on either the personifer or meredithi, it will be a dream come true. My poor mans conspiccilatus.
I find the only difference with the two is the tail. I have been corrected and did go off to try and find out if it was wrong (I had a feeling it was). Both fish are VERY similar, the only difference is that banded tail. Both males get the blue dotted face, just depends if you want the banded tail or not. Yes they’re sexually dimorphic however, I find if they’re the only one in the tank they will be a female and not have the nice face. If you got them as a Male though, you could have them and without females they’d remain a submale. This is what happened with my Genicanthus melanospilos, he hasn’t reverted to a true male and just has less of that male pattern (If I’m honest, I prefer him without the full pattern, makes him more unique and look like a misbar angelfish).

I am glad I brought this up. I was told that if I get a single juvie, it would turn male. Of maybe that is what I assumed.

So if I want the true blue face with yellow dots, I need to get two juvies. One will turn female and one will turn dominant male. Which will give me the true blue face with yellow dots.

Personally, I prefer the meredithi because of the solid yellow tail and it helps that its generally 50% cheaper than the personifer.

I find that yes, also I completely agree on you on the “Poor man’s personifer” it’s a steal if you want colour!! They’re so pretty with the sold tail and not a half black tail.

People who own Singapore angelfish (Chaetodontoplus mesoleucus) how big did yours get and how long did you own it for? I love this fish but always been pushed off by the 7 inch part, although I’ve almost never seen a 7 inch Singapore.
I got both of mine ~2.5 years when Poma had them. They’ve MAYBE grown 1”. Probably closer to 1/2”. In a 150 from the start. Fed 3-4x a day.

I don’t foresee them ever hitting 7”. But who knows.

Speaking of Chaetodontoplus personifer I just bought two 40 column tanks to move these guys into. BTW, they both had yellow caudal fins when I got them.

This perfect specimen with perfect coloration. All lines, no misbar. Perfect ratio of mouth to fins etc you get it.
Is yours my friend.

The one centered. I heard Bali Aquarich serenaded his mom with ballads when he was concieved.
