Going to be purchasing an ATO and was wondering what is the best most reliable out there? I want to TO into my sump pumping out of a 5 gal. water bottle. Thanks for your help.

I use the tunze as well. I does what I want. It is the only one I have used so I have no opinion on the best one.

If you have an apex the ATK is a good option. Otherwise I love the aqua auto smart AWC that I have on my nano 8G invert Q tank. It does ATO and auto water change for not much more than other ATO only options.

I’ve used SpectraPure and Tunze, both worked well with no issues.

Tunze, got two of them running for years. Only issue I had was algae getting on the sensor and it couldn't tell that the water was low. Just wipe it every once in a while or suck less at reef keeping than me lol

AutoAqua smart ato micro here. Been working wonderfully for a few years and no issues that were not caused by lazyness (i.e. if you let the sensor get covered).

If I was buying again, I would likely go with the Tunze 3155. Having the failsafe sensor is a good idea imo and they seem to be rock solid. I don't like relying on a controller for a backup sensor.

Tunze for me. I've got it hooked up to my Apex as well, so ordinarily operating independently, but if needed the outlet will cut off for extra redundancy.

autotopoff.com

You can get dual float switches for fail safe redundancy, find a pump to fit your needs, etc.

1) Spectrapure ULPC - ATO

2) Tunze 3155

3) Avast Marine ATO

I’ve owned all three and ranked them accordingly. You really can’t go wrong with any of my listed choices IMHO. They are all very reliable and have stellar reputations and track records to back them up.

I like pressure tube based systems. I use the Avast one but the Spectrapure is supposed to be even better.

Thanks everyone, I researched every ATO that was mentioned and thinking I will go with a Tunze but about 12 yrs ago I purchased an ATO that I still have and lost all the paperwork from it and didn't even know who made it but thanks to asting I now know it's from autotopoff.com so I may see if it still works and use it.

I've used them on probably 10 tanks over the last decade and I am a customer for life. They are super economic and the ability to use any pump is nice.
