From the start it took me a long way to get to this and i stepped into a few unexpected and unusual traps normal reefers wil never encounter. This made it more of a challenge to figure out the solutions to the problems.

========================

Doing no WC is a subject that raises much opposition and controverse.
Most of the time it ends up people doing WC start bashing on those who don't, because they are the mayority and they usualy get the upperhand.

Most people trying to share how they do without WC, are being declared stupid and ignorant.
I think some have a good point, but some are ignorant also (as with any other subject).

Because being criticised constantly, those people don't even bother sharing. Why should they ????

By thinking out of the box and share we all learn and move forward.

=======================

Back to your case:

So you don't intentionaly do water changes and use one bag of salt every 6 month? On what water volume and where do you remove water from the system. What minerals and method do you use to prevent depletion of minerals.
And how do you control your nutrient levels?

I am very interested in how you manage and compare notes.

Spsguru answered me by pm.
As many others he found a sweetspot to reduce water changes to a minimum level for himself, but keep it for himself for earlier mentioned reasons.

It's a no go area for many people to share and talk about this subject.

When people start to share their own experience on the subject, this subject tends to get flooded with people who force their opinion about why water changed should be mandatory.

For those who try to share there is no need and fun to go on with the subject, so the knowledge/experience get buried deep into the closet.

Some people seems so think no water changes is bad for the Aquarium trade and block off even the possibility to start a discussion about that.
I think that is very short sighted...
I seems to look like they want to cash in the money before it get spend somewhere else...

Why i think it's short sighted i will elaborate later on.

I already proved in holland that going without waterchanges is possible and that the result is reproducable by others.
There are 200+ tanks running my way now without WC and they got futher than any orher method they used before.
Even newbies keep sps coral in their maiden year.

Glenn could you share a link to your thread on the dutch fourm you post on.
I liked to read thru the thread and see others tanks. I care nothing about the whole WC debate and am interested in the science of the method. perhaps talking about each element and why and where its use and meaning would be helpful.
