Hi all,

I have had my 380L marine tank setup for around a year now. We had a rough start with 2 faulty heaters which in turn over heated the tank, killed most of the livestock, and set of a massive algae party in the tank (you name it I’ve got it everyone’s invited vibe).

I’ve managed with nutrient correction and water changes etc managed to get most under control however about 4 months ago I started noticing bubble algae growing on the rocks. I have left it for a while, tried manual removal gently, and took some rocks out scrubbed them and once back in they were full again within less than a week. I have about 4 emerald crabs, a pinthos crab, and a fox face who I’ve witnessed eating the algae however no matter how much he eats its back. I have an AI grow and a Glow for lighting. The temperature is stable with an app controller. The only thing is that it is next to a patio window although I never open the blinds next to the tank (I have opened for the photo). I have been using Brightwell Razor treatment for just under a month now having done the full course and continued on the Maintinence dose thereafter however not a single change.

Any ideas? I am due to move end of October and it will be away from a window at the new place. I’ve considered throwing all the rock and starting again but am concerned it’s all in the tank hence the Razor. I’ve not done a water change since starting the razor which I was going to do today however was worried about disturbing the treatment. I don’t currently dose as my KH isn’t absorbed quick enough to require dosing.

Last water tests were:
Temp 25c
KH 9
No3 10
Po4 0.1
Salinity 1.02

Wow... that's a lot of bubble algae. Unfortunately, you are not getting true readings on your nutrients with that much algae in the tank. If it were my tank and looked like that, I'd be pulling rock out and scrubbing it with peroxide, doing large water changes and running GFO or similiar like Chemipure Blue
