I have no clue what my nitrates were for the last year since they were above 75 and Hanna couldn't read that high (she stopped at a 3rd grade level).
I was so sick of my dinos and they were staying around 15 so I said "f-it, lets raise em"... over adjusted :face-with-rolling-eyes: :squinting-face-with-tongue:

tested the other day: no changes.

kicked up the lights yesterday. was 3 hours about 40% and 4 hours at 50% with ramp up and down. now 4 hours (maybe five I should have counted, more however many it happens to be) at 40 and 5 at 70%. heavier blues and over all a longer photo period.

Moral of the story, prepare for algae and uglier tank pics.

also pondering a change to the scape, a la the present reef of the month.
No real negative side effects of the brighter lights so I went a little further. Just another 10% for a 5hr peak of 75% and about 4 hours at 45.

It's alive! Also, almost one infant tall.

Step one, open box.

Step two, another box.

He looks so much like you! Well, a little less facial hair.

I had to work pretty hard to keep the packing peanuts out of his mouth, and the dogs.

He also bonked himself at one point, and didn't like that; we were close to bed time too.

gif coming of him playing with the box.

He doesn't have much hair anywhere.
Those packing peanuts....

at least these are water soluble. no problem to the dog, or presumably the baby, just don't want to set a standard.
But it's sooo much fun!

Of course there's always baby/doggy jail with a popsicle.

In her defense, she does help clean up. Also she would crawl beneath and put herself in jail...

and she's old enough to understand "not in your mouth please".

his first thought, probably similar to the dog is "thing, goes in mouth". In time he can play with them.
