Hey macro algae friends.

I have a brown slimy substance growing on just my macros...I haven't done ID with a microscope.

Full tank history...
100g sump
200g mixed reef fully stocked
13g display refugium

Any ideas?

Nate,
Instead of posting to sticky thread, start your own thread.

What macro algae are we looking at? I assume it’s in your display refugium. Can you supply a close up under white light?

Are you carbon dosing?

Yep I can do that. Tomorrow. Yes carbon dosing.

Np bacto balance. Essentially is that.

My phos is .3-.6, nitrate 15-30

I don't believe this to be dinos. But moreso some brown film algae growing on macros.

I have some Halymenia stipitata that I’d be willing to sell if anyone is looking for some. DM me. Here’s a picture of a small piece.
I have dragons breath, chaeto, and red Pom Pom gracilaria too.

Beautiful! Reminds me of the "orange galaxy" I got from mosaic macros. Mine didn't make it though.

My macro tank, it’s got 2 new macros now, bringing it to a total of 5 Macros in there.
Caulerpa prolifera
• Caulerpa sertularioides
• Caulerpa lentillifera
• Gracilaria hayi
• Halymenia maculata

Annoyingly I don’t have a photo of the strand of Prolifera round the back of the tank.

I have quite a bit of macro seaweeds in my tank now, but it's local Long Island seaweed so it won't live long. I can collect it every day on my morning beach walks. 😎
Codium is very common especially after some rough weather.

I have always collect this stuff for fun but in a month or two, most of it floats around as the urchin cuts it off it's holdfast as he is doing here. 😠
