The Outrigger starts here:

Beggin old news:
I've had this tank for a while.

It's served me well as a very low maintenance planted fresh water tank. But now I'm tired of that.

So I'm making it a nem tank.

And it's begun.

I'll pull my rfas from my other tank, along with the two clowns. Them and whatever other nems I happen to get will go in.

Equipment:
Reefbreeders nano
AI nero3for flow
May filter with a sponge as it has now, may add bulkheads and tie into the big reef.
Hang on skimmer.

Black aragonite gravel and rock from the display sump.

After much chaos trying to get a reasonably priced diamond hole saw (even excluding an employee of a particular orange themed hardware store not knowing what a hole saw was) I found one. Turns out the blue themed store has one for $20. After all that, I went and did this...

Are you gonna continue with another tank?

And that's why I'm ascared of sumps. Drilling is scary. Plumbing is scary. Leaks are scary.
Scary I tell you!
Well yeah as a matter of fact.

it's rather hard to find a nice overflow for nanos.. curious what youre gonna come up with :)
Me too. An overflow return would be easy enough. But to get a passive drain I still need a hole.
I almost made it a lot worse too.

If all else fails, I can throw on an hob filter and just do water changes on two tanks...

I have the same skimmer and I can't ever get the thing to work more than a day without adjusting. Same for you or am I dumb?

Sorry, just saw this. I ran it with the stopper out so it just drained back to the tank, an otherwise empty "future frag tank". Never tried to take the cup off.

My bigger skimmer from them frustrates me cuz the drain sits below the lip of my sump and the tube connector is real bad. Most of the time it pops off and I dump skimmate back into the tank.
