The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Here is a fully grown Lineatus Wrasse I got from a local reefer. He is as big and eats as much as our purple tang.

Hello! This is my first post. We are currently setting up a 350 gallon tank which will be FOWLR and on the semi-aggressive side, with a couple of Puffers and a Zebra Moray Eel, along with a few others. I would love to add some Wrasses since I love them so much! Here are the ones I would like to include:

Pinkface
Paddlefin OR Blunthead
Bluehead
Lyretail OR Goldbar OR Vrolik's
Richmond's

I realize some of these are classified as peaceful, some as semi-aggressive and some as aggressive, so I probably won't be able to have them all. I would love some input as to which ones are likely to get along together, as well as whether it would be best to add them all at the same time or in stages. Even though we are starting big, we are extremely new to the hobby so all advice is welcomed and appreciated!

The vrolik's and richmond will be killed by the Thalasomma species.

The Thalasomma species will coexist in that size tank if added simultaneously.

Yeah he's a great little fish, very active, colorful, a *mild* jerk... On the jerk thing... I added a couple new fish that were smaller than him, a Leopard, and a Sunburst Anthias -- He picks on them a little bit, and that's what has been making his male colors come out. He was getting bossed around by a Bangaii cardinal so having something "below" him might have helped his transition from female into male.

All speculation though.

Awesome, I wasn't sure if giving him 'something to bully' was what really made the difference or if he was just growing up.

My little blue flasher likes to go blue, put his fins up and swim circles around him -- Just a few weeks ago he'd have taken the bait and flashed and maybe chased a little, now he just stares at the flasher like "how cute, you think you're tough".

Not a fan of this word, but within 2 weeks this lunate has become much more "alpha"

Yep, that's definitely the word I'd rather use haha. It seems like he's lost that little chip on his shoulder that made him take the bait from anything that looked at him. He's much more dominant, and somehow more relaxed too. The dark fins coming in are also quite stunning. It seems his yellow stripe down the side and dark purple/black line right under that are also much more apparent.

Actually, what do you think about this @evolved -- I recently upgraded my flow pumps, and all the fish seem more active and happy, but the wrasse doubly so. I was running mp10's on full blast and it just wan't nearly enough flow, but these super wide sicce pumps @1800gph seemed to get them way more active, making the wrasse more voracious eaters, and more interested in exploring the tank instead of just hovering around bickering.

Any particular thoughts on flow for wrasse?

Most are found at depths were flows can be strong and pretty laminar, so there could be some correlation.
