Sounds like the checkerboard is kept in check with that group. Especially with the Banana and Formosa.....mine never bothered my Red Coris....but hated my Moyers....he was added after my other 5 leopards so he didn't bother them. It wasn't just the quick chase here and there no biggie....it was a relentless all out attack. If I didn't intervene my poor Moyers wouldn't have made it. After I removed the checkerboard my Moyers thrived. It has been a year and my Moyers is looking more like a Kuiters Wrasse every day (they are related).

Hi, my name is Stacy and recently downgraded from a 125 to a 65 gallon reef tank. Was going to get completely out of the hobby, but just couldn't stand the thought of giving it up! Now, for the question. I recently purchased a Naoko's wrasse and was going to put other wrasse in with it but got to reading about the aggressiveness of it's nature. Is this only towards other Cirrhilabrus wrasse or all wrasses. Wanted to put a couple of flasher wrasses (a carpenter and McCoskers). If no other wrasse can be added in this tank (65 gallon) any suggestions on other fish (what about a orange tail damsel)? I only have the Naoko's and a Maroon striped clown (who is completely occupied with his anemones). Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated! Thanks!

I would recommend against fairy and flasher wrasses with a naokoae.

Perhaps a small Halichoeres, such as chrysus or biocellatus.

The orange tail damsel can be a little aggressive. Less aggressive damsels include the kupang, talbot's, springeri, and rolland's.
Other suggestions include a fang blenny, a trio of zebra or scissortail dartfish, or a gramma.

They do not. They build mucus cocoon.

Cirrhilabrus do not need sand but those that do include Halichoeres, Macropharyngodon and Anampses. They need 2" of sand.

Is he eating inverts? How big is it? Removal by fish trap may be your best option if you can't net him.

Hes like 6 plus in long hes good size an yes munching away at every snail i put in thats qhy i think im fighting cyano

how big is the tank? Given its size I would think you could net it at feeding time.

Ive done alittle reading on him says can get to a ft long an reef with caution

I would try to net him first but reducing the size of the tank with egg crate if you can. If not try a trap or use a small barbless hook with food and try to catch him that way. Good luck
