I ordered the DT as a juvenile but LA sent me this beautiful Flashing male. If I get another, it will definitely be a very small one, so I can enjoy it longer.

Last Month

Will see how long mine will last. I got him when she was 1 inch long. Here he is with his lady. She was even smaller than him. I was worry that they may become expensive Harlequin Tusk dinner. Now he is 2+ inches while she is 2- inches

Ok I have a male pintail fairy wrasse, female hooded, carpenter male flasher and a yellow Cori's.

The pintail, hooded and flasher added same time like 6 months ago. All good pintail was biggest so he was the beast. Today we noticed the male pintail hiding. And the female hooded fairy going after him like crazy I felt bad and I love the pintail. He will be sitting still and female just bashing him. But I don't see any marks or torn fins. He will sit still and slump to the side slightly. And she will pick him. He's hanging towards the water water line trying to stay out the way.

What the heck is going on all of a sudden. She's flaring her fins. Darker black color on fins. I'm wondering if she's turning to a male. But that being said. She's gonna just kill my pintail????

My eight line flasher flashing his reflection.

Interesting situation however. I introduced him to the tank a few weeks back and kept him in the acclimation box for about 5 days. The Yellow and melaranus could care less. My redfin fairy seemed to not care either until I released the eight line, the redfin immediately went after him. I banished the redfin to the sump for a few days giving the eightline a few days to settle in. Next I put the redfin in the acclimation box for about 5 days as well.

After releasing him they ignored each other for the most part. The flasher would do his flashing as expected...however when night fall started and my lights take on a more red hue they both start some serious posturing. Both flash and circle each other....even a few moments of severe chasing until they bed down. In the morning the flasher dominates and flashes away and occasionally chases the red fin but again at dusk the posturing starts up and the redfin gets the upper hand.

I'm going to watch them for a bit but if it gets much more serious, the redfin might need to be rehomed.

Actually, 4 feet, at max recorded size. It really shouldn't be sold in the trade IMO.

Hey guys, quick question.

I have a blue flasher and yellowfin fairy, all went well for a couple of months until recently. The tank's a 50 gallon, got the flasher first and added the fairy about a month later. Lately the fairy wrasse started getting a lot more dominant and bullying the flasher. It doesn't bother him too much, as he's still very active and eating like a pig, however he is missing some scales as a result.

Because he's a bit timid and doesn't fight back I can imagine it not ending too well for the flasher in the long run. Removing one of them solves the problem entirely of course, but I like them both so I'd rather not do that. Would adding another fairy or wrasse help?
I imagine it'd distract the dominant fairy a bit so he won't primarily focus on the blue flasher anymore.

Of course, if that won't solve anything I will remove one of them.

My larger China Wrasse. I think she is changing sex. The caudal and pelvic fins start to color up the last few weeks, pinkish red and blue. The face start to have lines and also green blue and red. The back color of the back receded and more iridescent flecks. The anal fin start to have pink red coloration to it also. I think she is now very early initial phase male. I can't wait for him to complete his color change.
This wrasse have been in my tank for the last 14 months. He is about 5 inches at this time.
