I hadn't thought about that....man, they are such gorgeous fish but maybe I need to switch my dream wrasse from a Supermale Lineatus to a Madagascar flasher wrasse
Flashers live even shorter lives typically 3-5yrs. Just something to keep in mind when you see those beautiful terminal male Madagascar flashers for sale, they're already 1-2 yrs old.

What kind of wrasse is this?
Orange Back Fairy, Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis (As we’ve discovered already, common names suck, I was in a thread and 3 of us said the same common name for around 4 different species).

That's one instance, though, where the common matches the latin:)

Problem over here though, I've never seen an LFS post a latin name, always the common hobby name. So we can only post photos, and give the common name if we have no idea what the latin is. Might be different on your side of the pond?

one of my blue stars passed today. After i fished it out it was clearly malnourished with sunken belly. I feed frozen twice per day and pellets twice and she would eat both (although pellets were slow going). I guess it just was not enough. My hope is that my pod population might recover a bit with only one blue atar left in the system. I had only had them for 1.5 months :/

Chances are she was doomed when you got her. Leopards are often brought in with internal parasites unfortunately so many are doomed when they enter the fish stores.

Sold male choats to lfs for their display. He was very aggressive to the medium choats in transition. Put a call out to Eric at ATR for one more. Won’t give up on a trio easily
He loving his new home. Male candy basslet chases him but everyone else leaves him alone. He stayed out hunting from time I put him in his new home

He looks stunning, how much credit/money from the LFS?

I got a call out for more lol. I got the trio from among the reef. I sold it local to Reefco. I put it for sale on Instagram and he bought it in 3 minutes. He is a friend but $400 usa cash in hand was the price

I want to add a couple/few male wrasses to my 72 gallon tank. If I wanted some combination of Naoko, Melanurus, Christmas, and 1 fairy wrasse (or honestly any other easy to take care of wrasse they're all beautiful), how many am I safe to get away with before it is too many? This link (https://www.saltwateraquariumblog.com/best-saltwater-fish-for-a-75-gallon-tank/) says 3-5 flasher/fairy, but those aren't halichoeres like the Melanurus, and that seems like a lot of wrasses, especially considering I will eventually add coral and other fish.

I have 5 in my 80G cube. Some wrasses do not need a lot of swimming room as they stick close to the rock work.

With that said, fairies, and more so flashers tend to like a lot of swim room.
Agreed with this. They need room. When young they can be in tighter space but as they mature they need room. Bigger tanks full of rock and coral take up room and swimming space too
