The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Had to do it. These have been one of my “holy grails” for a long time, and she just looked so cute.

They dont bother snails at all. Lots of pods, and plenty of frozen food and you should be good to go.
I have tigger, apex, Tisbe that I’m culturing so endless supply, also adding rotifers daily and raising brine shrimp on phyto. So thinking the feeding will be the easy part.

I’d go neither and go with the Red Sea variant of the Bipartitus….so basically my vote is for the bipartitus ;)
Wow bet the Red Sea is the one I saw a picture of when I googled if they could go together. Unsure of source (ha went back and looked and African) as I’m not sure they know 100% as I have asked on other fish before. However I have had great luck with their fish. Always seem to be healthy. And I already pulled the trigger in both lol. Plus added an Iridis.
Been an extremely long day of spring yard work at my mommy’s house. Can barely stay awake.

Congrats on getting your holy grail. Good looking

Thank you! She is in my SR-80 with 2 pink streaks, 2 possums, and 2 clowns. Going to be my center piece for a long time.

They had a super male that was absolutely stunning. I couldn’t get a great photo, but even under non-flattering lights the colors were wonderful.

So your and me both vote for the left ;)
That left is in fact a Marisrubri (the Red Sea sister species to the bipartitus).
Ok, any opinions, which one should I get? Or can you put both together?
i vote;
Skip the meleagris, get the marsrubri. Swap the meleagris for when you find a Kuiteri female and then to top off the leopards get either a Negrosenis as these Will complement the white of the Kuiteri and the male colours of the Marisrubri.

Never been a big fan of the kuiteris. My vote goes for the marisrubri, and maybe a moyeri, or negrosensis.

I would not do both as they are very similar in color and temperament. Not that they wouldn't get along, but it would be like having twins in the tank.

Well, I’m sat with a rather quiet period at work so…

P.S. Most of those are actually very tempting, especially the caeruleopunctatus, lineatus and neoguinaicus

That’s a Cetoscarus bicolour juvenile, it’s beautiful but not in my tank haha.
While the juvenile is certainly a stunning specimen, the adult not quite so much. Kind of just a bland green with some flashes of color in it's tail.

Wow that’s a lot of healthy Anampses. I do Not know if I could resist!

I absolutely love wrasse. Have a pair of Melanarus & a Banana atm. Tried trice to keep Scott’s wrasse, but my dwarf angel bullies them to death.
If you love wrasses, your in the right thread.

As always in this thread, pics or it didn't happen. :D We LOVE pics around here!

I will pic soon, if my doser failure didn’t just kill everything. I’ll know tomorrow, I guess!

OOh yeah....

Happy Easter everyone!

And just cause this is the wrasse thread. A group of Anampses Femininus found in the Easter island's.

They are using the rock as a clear sign to flick us off so we don’t catch and kill them, unfortunately :downcast-face-with-sweat:

That’s the word! Marisrubri! I couldn’t find it any where

A lot of the LFS if not all of them mark them wrong and put Marisrubri as Bipartitus or put up Bipartitus RedSea but it’s just a regular Bipartitus. A good way to distinguish the two is to look at the Marisrubri’s dorsal. The first top bit is not as pointy, and the rest of The dorsal eases into it and is much more “straight” looking all together. Also the marisrubri may have a bigger upper body than a bipartitus (don’t get fooled if the belly of one seems fatter than the other) Here’s an example
