The entire labridae family is protogynous hermaphrodites that change gender from female to male according to the wrasse book.

You will likely have the female for much longer and watch it change. The males you never know where they are on the 5-7 year lifespan. I guess you could also have an older female suppressed in a harem

I think they only had two (male and female). I grabbed the male bc I have a rainbow basslet that loves to eat smaller fish.

Well dang these limited availabilities. My next wave of fish should be here this next week so I need to get my next order figured out so that they can get to work on conditioning etc. this next order is to be my flashers. Most places only have one or two flashers available and some of them are of course different from what dr reef has. They have cyaneus, carpenteri, lineopunctatus, mccoskeri, and angulatus. My original plan was to add 2-3 of these as my first wave of wrasses. And since I can’t add an attenuatus :loudly-crying-face: I guess these are my choices. All would be fine with me. But I remember one or two of these being taken out of the mix before and now can’t remember why. So which 2-3 do I want/can have together next.

SOME EYE CANDY FOR YOU WRASSE LOVERS !

Not gonna lie I was up set when I saw these. I contacted the collector in Mauritius and she told me last month that some were coming to Quality marine, and only there.
i then had my rep put in an order for me so I could get one. Somehow the few that came in all went to you despite my back order prior to them arriving. They came in Sunday night, and my rep was sick Monday and Tuesday.
Somehow when he was asking on Tuesday and Wednesday where they went, no one seemed to know how all of the few(5) they got went missing from the other couple back orders that were supposed to get these 1% type fish.
When I saw these Friday on the site I got irritated. Oh well. I’m not paying that for them when I know what wholesale cost was.

Ok, sorry it took awhile to look all these up and read up on them. I have picked 8 at the start here. To refresh memories here, I have an IM 150EXT lagoon ( 47.5 x 35.5 x 20 L/D/H). My plan is to have the following:

2 each clowns (they are already in the tank, which is at week 10,fish in 10 days ago.)
1 each flame angelfish, and 1 each coral beauty angelfish
And finally either a yellow tang or a tomini tang.

Would fill out with a group of wrasses, based on recommendations here as to types and quantity. Would like to stay in the 12 to 15 fish total, if size and temperament allows.

So, here are what we liked so far: C. Lubbocki; P. Carpenteri; C. Isosceles; P. Flavianalis; A. Melanurus; A. Lineatus; C Naokoae; M. Negrosensis.

Look forward to input from you wrasse addicts. Thank you.

Anampses melanarus and lineatus are very closely related and being anampses are very sensitive. As is the negrosensis. Not saying that any are bad ideas just be prepared and make sure they’re eating before you get them.

A lot of people like a Halichoeres too. The iridis, timorensis, and melasmopomus are my favorites that are common.

The others are all great and should work well!

Iridis suffers shipping stress and getting a healthy import of them is rather hard, are you getting these all from your LFS?

@i cant think I am planning on using the LFS. He has pretty good luck with locating and procuring fish that customers request. Will definitely keep that in mind.
