The sunset is not going to be happy with the new additions. Do you have an acclimation box?

Tusks and broomtails typically do not get along so these two being together likely won't work out long term. The tusk and sunset should be fine together once the sunset gets over having new guys in his territory.

That’s what I was trying to determine. My plan was for the broomtail to go in the 160 for now and the harlequin to go in the 210. But I have been moving fish out of the XXL750 into the 3XL900 that has been fallow. Might have gotten ahead of the schedule but had to free up my QT for a batch of tangs and wrasses for my Frag system. Just moved a rather larger Panther Grouper over last night and didn’t want to put any more strain on the bio load.

May have to move the broomtail (if I can catch him) in a week or two.

That panther has kept a lot of its white coloring and looks really nice. Some of them get really gray and drab.

My wife named it Queenie. And she loves it now as well. They hide a lot, but she had gotten pretty comfy in the smaller tank. And would hang out in the feeding corner every night waiting for me.

Yes, I don’t know if it’s the fact that it is still only 2 years old, or just that I feed it well. These guys get a mix of frozen shrimp, krill, silversides, plus mussels, little neck clams, squid and I throw in some pe mysis to draw out my marble cat shark when it is feeding time.

So today I decided to do the mirror trick and it seems to be working. Harlequin Tuskfish (Romance) has some nips out of his fins from last night, but now the Banana (Hank) isn’t bothering him at all but checking himself out in the mirror (maybe a little vain).

The broomtail is still Hiding out but hopefully she will make an appearance soon.

I was told to use an acclimation box many, many years ago. Specially When introducing new wrasses to an already established gang.

It has always worked out for me. You can tell nearly right away if any of the established gang is going to be a jerk. They will start attacking the box. If they leave it alone, and are not bothered by the box, the introduced fish 99.9% of the time will be fine.

I am looking at introducing a cleaner wrasse (on order) into a 120g with a mature Melanurus I assume you put a small container of sand in your box and PVC pipe if you can fit it in? If there is aggression, how long to you leave the newcomer in?

Also, if you have aggression, how long do you usually wait to release the newcomer to be sure you won't have issues?

A cleaner wrasse is a very different type of wrasse. I doubt you'll have any issues with the melanarus.
Hopefully you know about how difficult a cleaner wrasse can be though?

Cleaner Wrasses do not need sand :)
They simply need rocks or something to hide in and they will be alright. Labroides isn’t a sand sleeping genus and instead is a rock sleeping genus, as for how long to keep it in the box for I’d aim for a week at the least.

They often don't eat aquarium food and starve to death or, as you heard, they get so desperate for food they pester other fish and cause injury. I have a CB one and I encourage everyone to go that way as they are taught to eat frozen.

I try to tell my boys to eat frozen but they keep ordering door dash and uber eats. Costs a fortune.
