The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Yesssss...
Hoping to move Jello this weekend!
If @Crabby48 doesn't forget the trap again lol
Also, Goldfinger (yellow coris) is gone. See ya...
So Naoko may go in the 110? I have some feisty guys in there though.

My Naoko was a real piece of work. He’d constantly be in the tank showing his a** several times a week.

Ended up moving him into the 150 I had back then that housed a bunch of tough guys in there. He held his own, lived several years there happy and angry like always.

Always thought he might’ve liked it in there because he was a jerk and was around others that liked being jerks too. He liked showing his a** and so did they, so I think it was a little party in there for them haha.

You just made up my mind.
Naoko is going in with Jello, in with the Bond Villains! Naoko will need a new name.

Just fed the tank. Broke out the phone and snapped a few pics because possum was posing for glamour shots.

It’s shocking to see wrasses you guys get in The triple digits over here are sat in double digits… My naoko was a mere £30 ($37.24). My Lubbock’s were around the same price (the Cebu variant was slightly less).
40$ for my first 65$ for my second. More but still reasonable. Also it’s scary how much the pound has fallen.

How do you like that nori feeder?
Love it!
Even Hardwicke tries to rip the nori through the holes and everything stays put. Very sturdy, highly recommend.

What does everything think of the African exquisite fairy-wrasse? It would be going into qt with a radiant wrasse and in the dt there is a pin tail, Mccoskers, as well as a red lined and some other fish. Would they get along and are they nice fish? The website says they are the family labridae but I thought fairys were cirrhilabrus

Sadly I think the yellow corris got harassed to death by someone. Lights up and he was laying on his side dead. The leopard is doing great and eating frozen, not shy at all when I come to the tank.

All wrasses are in the family labridae. Cirrhilabrus is the genus for the fairy wrasses.

I know the exquisite, pintail and McCoskers should all get along, as I have had all of them in the past together. I imagine the others should be fine as well, but can't tell you that from direct experience.

My bad, that is dumb of me lol. And thank you, from all the pictures I see they look really nice. Originally I wanted a diamond tail but they seem quite hard to get. Thank you!

I ended up removing my chaliasi fairy from the 75 gallon tank, as it continues to lose weight, even after multiple dewormings with prazi. I was able to catch it bare handed today and put it in quarantine, and I'm going to treat it with panacur and see if I can save it. I have a feeling it isn't going to make it. It came from the same supplier as the powder blue tang, which also showed the same symptoms, and was full of worms when I did a necropsy on it. It's always been out and about and eats frozen non-stop.

The good news is that all the other wrasses in the 75 gallon are doing very well, nice and fat, eating and growing very well. The pencils are super bold, take food from my fingers, and eat just about everything.

I personally enjoy the African Exquisite Wrasses however I prefer the Vanuatu variants as they have the nice yellow dorsal and anal fins. Any of the C. exqusititus variants will get along with your stocking. Here’s the different variants (The females all look identi

As for the Labridae confusion here’s a break down of the family;

You have the main family that covers everything Wrasses, Hogfish, Parrotfish.
Then that main family is split into 2 subfamilies, Bodianidae and Scaridae which hold the Hogfish and Parrotfish.
Then these 3 (sub)families are split into several genera depending on the family and we tend to easily identify which subfamily has which fish from the names we give them;
Parrotfish = Scaridae
Hogfish = Bodianidae
Wrasses = Labridae

I hope this helps :)

What happened that Goldfinger is gone?
Your guess is as good as mine.
Good Luck Charlie What GIF

He was there on Tuesday morning before I left for work, and Wednesday afternoon, after I got home,he was gone.
Between all the other Villains in that tank and the nems, he's swimming somewhere with Hoffa.

Definitely grab Atleast 2 of them if not all 3. They’re all worth it in terms of wrasses :)
Ended up with 4

Green pair
Black
Red

All in my QT tank - success so far with getting them to eat
