That's a weird looking wrasse :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Gorgeous fish.

One of the LFS I go to tried to bring it in for me this week but neither made it
Hopefully they come in again, this is a gorgeous wrasse but you have to snatch them quick otherwise it’s too late - I reserved my baby in the morning and quite a few showed interest in her.

My LFS has so many C rubeus they can’t sell them. You’re obviously on the wrong coast @JoJosReef
Yeah, I'm originally from Virginia. Then again, after living in Barcelona for 8 years and SoCal for 9 years, I'm not sure I can go back to East coast weather. Dying to get a rubeus. You'd think they'd have them here! Although I also want a negrosensis and a pinkie (or two)...

And look at this chunky boy/girl (Still can’t tell if she’s transitioning but I do sometimes see a blue/green tint on her).

And 3 from the main tank, Atty was flaring his fins and looks gorgeous. And the Radiants are truly bringing the best out of eachother, I mean prior to the female my male had minimal green in his tail.

I’ll have to order some brine shrimp eggs and setup a hatching tank. No one seems to have live food near me.

I forgot to mention that my setup included a 2” MarinePure which was seeded with bacteria and pods in a sump. She might have been snacking from it.
Horrible news…

After finally getting her to eat I found her this morning struggling with what must be a broken back.

My hypothesis is that the 10gal QT was too stressful for her and she tried to jump into to eggcrate top or slammed into the glass chasing food.

I’ll be euthanizing her and getting another today as my 2.5yo son is obsessed with her, and I really liked her. I’m gonna use my 28”x18”x18” QT this time as it’s finished sterilizing.

Has this happened to anyone else, and is there anyway to help avoid this from occurring?

Could have been unkown neurological wrasse disease where they can show with loss of function of the tail and progress to paralysis. Broken spine is also posdible especially when you see mouth damage. Try to avoid startling the wrasse with quick movements to the tank or flipping lights on etc. Sorry to hear this.

I have had a lot of issues with fairy wrasse and spinal injuries. I blame my glass lid

Yes. I lost my hooded flame crashing into the side of a bucket. The larger QT is a good idea. I would get rid of the eggcrate and use flexible screening.

Looking at a possible few more wrasses;

Cirrhilabrus balteatus
Cirrhilabrus Lunatus
Cirrhilabrus Brunneus
Paracheilinus attenuatus
M Kuiteri

Or anything I haven't Considered

Thanks for feed back and of course any ranking
