The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I'd love to add another wrasse but after all the anxiety my Ornate gave me when I added the Black and Choati I don't think i will.
If I’m honest, that’s likely to have only occurred because they were all Macropharyngodon species and not from various genera - wrasses will always be more boisterous to their own conspecifics than other genera :)

Have we started a thing? Iridis Saturday?
I’ll play

It's not just the Ornate. My yellow wrasse is just as bad. The odd thing is the two get along great. They just don't like other wrasse or most new additions.

I’ll admit, my iridis (even when he was female) was quite boisterous to new wrasses, mostly the fairies/flashers rather than other sand sleepers. Albeit I’ve not got several Halichoeres in one tank anymore, I do still have my Jade she just isn’t with me in the same way and instead is in a coral tray at the LFS.

If you introduce wrasses the way I’ve found I have to start doing it now is through adding 2-3 at once and it just 1 at a time, although when I had 3-4 I was able to just add one wrasse with 0 issues.

The LFS is running discount on fish this weekend and the c. lunatus was still there…

Place him in the nano until he gets some weight/size, he’s a bit thin but already ate twice and also still need to trap/remove the Redfin from the other tank.

Pretty awful pics, but the Scarus niger (Swarthy Parrot) is doing fantastic! The red color is coming out, nice and plump, eating everything, and even devours the red turf algae off the rocks.

Also got a pic of my juvenile Halichoeres garnoti, which is darkening up and starting to develop female coloration.

I miss my Garnoti. I might buy another if I see one in a shop again.

seeing as it’s wrasse Wednesday, here we go with photos! I took these yesterday so they’re still up to date (finally).

yes mostly the fleshy ones like my scolly, acans and especially Zoas, just the expensive ones..LOL. All my Euphyillias and shrooms were fine. …but like every other fish there always exemptions to the norm.

What type of rabbit is that? Verry pretty
Siganus virgatus (Close in relation to the scribbled however I’m not certain it’s a true Doliatus)

Mine is so far a model citizen - no damage (Yet) my angels however, the multicolour has certainly nipped a couple especially when they’ve been weakened.

What is this guy from Petco? A baby Halichoeres marginatus or Halichoeres annularis? What is the different between the two?
