She’s so cute! I miss mine, she vanished a few days before I left for Panama back in March, and I got her in December.
Hopefully you have more luck!!

Thanks man, fingers cross no hiccups, so far shes eating great and the LFS that got her in did a good job conditioning, basically ate immediately in the qt. My guess is that chaotis do better in Singapore owing to the shorter travel time they have to go thru to get here from AUS compared to in the States.

Do moyeri wrasses ever have blue tails? My lfs has 2, but one has a blue tail and it looks like thats a trait of kuiters.

I’d be cautious with the Red Coris later down the line, but I have 7 wrasse which peck around the rocks in my 5 foot system;
Hologymnosus doliatus
Pseudocheilinus ocellatus
Pseudojuloides kaleidos (I have a pair of these)
Anampses twistii
Halichoeres iridis
Pseudodax molaccanus (so far, my Acros are safe, for now)

I did end up going out and got the leopard. Now trying to decide if I should get a male to go with the female.....

If you wanted a male, grab a smaller female and watch the transition!

Will try to get some decent photos tomorrow, but the 4ft wrasse tank is getting crazy hard to shoot. Everything is always on the move!

Are Red Corris wrasses slow growers? These two have been with me for years and are good sized, fat and healthy but still have some of the white bands, hardly any blue spots and tails still red. Any idea how long it takes or under what circumstances they change?

The neoguinaicus is awesome. The electric blue contrasts so nicely with the pearly white and dark back.

Another sand sleeping wrasse followed me home. I love these two. Yellow is just popping and Timor is very unique iridescent color. Both obviously intelligent and very sassy with each other. Trying to keep them fat to reduce aggression! Haha they’re pigs for sure. Always begging at the glass when I am within sight.

This is the question I’ve had a fair amount when I’ve brought in both Moyeri and Kuiteri. Yes, they can both get blue caudal fins, it depends if you’re looking at males or females of them. Females don’t usually have blue caudal fins for Kuiteri, but female Moyeri can have them. Males of both species however do have the blue caudal fins.

Identifying them is a pain - I can’t really describe it but the photos below show the comparisons :)
Now, if we’re talking about males, they are almost identical to one another.
Male Moyeri;

Male Kuiteri;

Females however, they are much clearer to tell apart.
Female moyeri;

Female kuiteri;

So for a point of difference, male or female for moyeri a wide yellow stripe under the eye is moyeri and if no wide yellow stripe under the eye, it is kuiteri. As long as this is consistent.

Pretty much yep!
Also, most of the time once you’ve seen enough of them your eyes are locked into it (it’s how I can now identify various koi, wrasses of both sex and also various acropora).

Picked a thin radiant wrasse at Reefapaloza. It’s been putting some weight.

Hi I was thinking about attending ReefaPaloza in Anaheim next week with hopes of finding some “rarer” wrasses than my local fish shops carry. Would you say there were several vendors selling fish? It looks like mostly coral vendors. Thank you.
