Awesome wrasse tank! Those are some seriously fat wrasses!

What was the pintailed wrasse displaying in the center of the tank? I didn't recognize that one.
P. attenuatus, darkened up as they all do once under bright lighting.

Of the two, which one is the better match to keep with bipartitus and meleagris?
Do you have a coin I could toss? :)
I'd side with geoffroyi, but males of the species can occasionally be just as bad.

Ornatus are hardier, geoffreyi is usually more peaceful.

How many Leopards would be happy in a 5 foot, 110 gallon? My lfs rarely has them, and I would like to have 2. Other tank mates included c. Lineatus, c. Solarensis, c. Exquisitus, a pair of clowns, yellow tang and a lawnmower blenny. I'm hoping to add another cirrhilabrus and a couple flashers at some point in the future. Aggression is minimal right now but the lineatus is boss of the other wrasses.

2 will be fine. Depending on the species, 5 wouldn't be unreasonable in that tank.

I know, I just like the look of them and don't see them all too often [emoji39]I think $150 is a little pricey for them though

I've got one, he's not too showy until the evening... When it's just the blues on at night, all my flashers have always gotten really fiesty..

My little 1" blue flasher, fins out, flashing from neon blue to red, swimming in tight circles around the Angulatus, the Angulatus puts its fins out and flashes that iridescent purple -- making the little blue flasher take off and hide. Lunate pops out and periodically pops it's fins out and gets a deep black on his fins and a similar iridescent purple and blue on his sides.

They all like showing off at night. My melanurus on the other hand, digs like half a dozen 'tester beds' before finding the one it likes most (same spot, every time... lol)

Hey guys I love me some Wrasse and I am looking for opinions for Wrasse for a frag tank build.

Little background:
Currently I have a 93 cube that has a Rhomboid Wrasse, Earmuff Wrasse, Red Tail Tamarin tank is bare bottom with wrasse dens.
I also have some clowns and a yellow tang in the tank.

Tank I want to add Wrasse to:
I have an 80 gallon Deep Blue frag tank build 48 x 24 x 16. The tank will be bare bottom and used for SPS. I have chaetomorpha, volley ball size, in the sump. There are no fish in the tank. In the tank I have live rock, that was cured for over a year in large Rubbermaid, a few misc corals leather, zoas, colt coral that I picked up here or there. The misc corals will come out as my sps go in. I am going to have some serious light with a Ecotech pro G4 and a Reefbreeder Photon V2 over the tank, getting both lights this week. Lights are mixed due to high praises for both.

I have a want list for the wrasse probably in order of want but not in order of stocking.
Mystery wrasse (had before)
Flame wrasse (had before)
Lineatus wrasse
8 Line Wrasse
Flasher wrasse (had before)
White Banded Possum Wrasse may be ok
I am not looking for any sand burrowing wrasse for this tank.

So, I guess what I am asking is what kind of Wrasse would you put in this tank?

I appreciate your input.
Thanks.

I would avoid the mystety wrasse with the other wrasses, but none of the others except the Wetmorella will help with pest control.

+1 on both of those points.

If by 8 line wrasse you mean Pseudocheilinus octotaenia, then that one must also be avoided.
"Flasher" is a genus, not a particular species, but any of the Paracheilinus species would be fine.
Lastly, and certainly most important, the tank must be completely covered with 1/4" mesh.

No I meant this one Paracheilinus octotaenia.
I have some clips for a screen on order but I haven't received them yet.
I love all the flasher wrasse, had a diamond tail before, I was thinking maybe a carpenters, red tail, or a McCoskers fairy wrasse or like a blue throat . Looking through this thread is like being a kid in a candy store.
I was just looking to see if any one had ideas for kind of wrasse or how many for a tank this size. I was thinking maybe 2 or 3 Paracheilinus octotaenia and a Lineatus wrasse and 2 flame wrasse. If thats too much maybe another combination.
Thanks

Don't do a pr of any wrasses. Females almost always transition into males even if a male is present.
