This is the guy. He looks a bit smaller than average, but I think he likes me and I like his size. He gave me a happy look when I went back to the store to snap a photo.

I could totally be misreading the situation and be anthropomorphizing. Maybe the bird isn’t calling me to be his forever lover.

You'd know if it was an African street dog, though. By day, it would lie around watching passersby with feigned interest. But when the sun goes down and the street lights are on, you're on their territory and they will hunt you and take you down for trying to walk home on their street!
