@ISpeakForTheSeas what are the giant vases I’m seeing? The blue and white ones are sponges I’m fairly confident of but what about the giant dark red ones. They seem like they are stony but I may be wrong.Compared to Hawaii the coral biodiversity is much higher. Tons of gorgonians, sea fans, brain, montipora, caggage, and these giant vase like corals (or are they sponges? Some are definitely sponges but others are hard?)
At the same time a lot of dead or dying corals too. About the same as Hawaii though I think with the reduced tide and current the algae here is worse. However I have seen 6+ft thriving gorgonians which was pretty incredible to see.

I know the ones your talking about. Skuttles off to find pix. You can often find crabs in them.@ISpeakForTheSeas what are the giant vases I’m seeing? The blue and white ones are sponges I’m fairly confident of but what about the giant dark red ones. They seem like they are stony but I may be wrong.

A type of cup coral ? noticed in Sams pic next to double holed is a cup starting to grow ?...:)
Most likely sponges as well - dark reddish is a common coloring for a number of different vase-shaped sponges, particularly some of the photosynthetic ones in the Caribbean. Some of these vase-shaped sponges are also noted as being hard to the touch.@ISpeakForTheSeas what are the giant vases I’m seeing? Screenshot of the video I didn’t mean to take below. The biggest were probably over 4ft tall and about a foot in diameter. Most likely sponges as well - dark reddish is a common coloring for a number of different vase-shaped sponges, particularly some of the photosynthetic ones in the Caribbean. Also saw a basket starfish and some really cool sea cucumbers last night.
Thanks! The blue ones are probably the prettiest thing I’ve seen here. Not my photoAh, yeah, those are definitely sponges.
Yeah, those are Azure Vase Sponges, Callyspongia (Cladochalina) plicifera - they're beautiful sponges, but reportedly very difficult to keep in aquaria (a few different places sell them occasionally). Thanks! The blue ones are probably the prettiest thing I’ve seen here. Not my photo

Not surprised. Good place to find brittle stars, and tiny puffer and filefish tooYeah, those are Azure Vase Sponges, Callyspongia (Cladochalina) plicifera - they're beautiful sponges, but reportedly very difficult to keep in aquaria (a few different places sell them occasionally).
So if he's bestest instead of me, that would obviously make him more bestester? You too be the bestest @JoJosReef … you are more bestest then Marco
So when I said
“Your wrong “
I was essentially stating the “wrong” in question belonged to @felda001
And
@tbrown owned the “right” and the “bestest” title until you came in here and made a very good point!
Will say the that the “bestest” is an award handed to people who are the best
Yup that all logically follows.
most besterestSo if he's bestest instead of me, that would obviously make him more bestester?
